I've had my Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera for over a week now ( see picture) and I tested it with the different settings and have to say it's one of the best camera's they developed and with the floodlight I can definitely see a lot better at night time now. But the features I enjoy the most are the automatic "Zoom" in feature that can set the focus on a person that's in your zoned in area while it's recording and the very clear pictures at night. I did purchase the Arlo Accessory - Outdoor Magnetic Charging Cable | 25 ft, Weather Resistant Connector also as this works better for my personnel needs. We also have 6 other Arlo camera's, the Arlo Pro 2, Arlo Pro 3, the Arlo Audio Doorbell, Arlo Q and Arlo Baby we've been extremely happy over the last three years and yes we have a strong Wi-Fi connection.

I’ve had an Arlo Q+ inside my house for a couple of years and it has worked flawlessly. Decided to add the Pro 3 floodlight camera above our garage to replace an older ‘failed’ wired camera. The camera was easy to install and pair to our home’s wifi (I have multiple routers to cover the house). It did require I purchase the Arlo SmartHub base station; a device our Arlo Q+ did not need. The video is excellent, although on the default ‘motion detect’ setting it reacts too much to foliage blowing in the wind. Currently experimenting with the sensitivity settings. I will follow-up with an update if issues develop, but I am seriously considering adding additional Arlo cameras.

bought this to add to my Arlo system and not disappointed. It is really bright and I have a huge backyard. It does a great job of illuminating most of it. It also captures sound and motion like a champ. I’ve got a lot of critters that come and go so it will be nice to see if the camera can capture their activity. Also, it’s a great deterrent to keep the largest pests away. Set up was a little tricky given our Xfinity network not displaying 2.4ghz network name, but got that to work out by isolating that network separately. Otherwise, it was a smooth install.

This Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight camera is the best out there. I was doing a lot of research for a good floodlight camera and this one has topped all others. Pricing is respectable for everything this camera does. The zoom quality is amazing, the floodlight is very bright and motion sensors are great. To top it all off I am able to talk through and have an alarm sound. A countless sensor triggers and a good amount of floodlight use and the battery is at 70% after a weeks use. Very easy to install and even easier to remove to charge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bright as hell!
Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2021

Pros:
The only wireless floodlight camera when compared to Ring and Google Nest Floodlight Cam. Also, it is the brightest one at 3K lumens (when wired or used with the solar panel accessory). Even without it being wired, it runs at 2k lumens, which is super bright. In comparison, the Google Nest Floodlight Cam runs at 2400 lumens and the Ring at only 1600 lumens. Those are wired cams. The Arlo lights up my entire yard and I turn it on at night (20 min max duration) when I'm doing stuff at night.
I hang the floodlight off the siding of my house. I use 2 vinyl siding clips I found on Amazon. No need to screw them to my house and I can move them around if I wanted to. I used 2 clips, screwed to the 2 mount holes of the base so that it can hold the weight of the camera. Heavy winds hasn't knock it down yet.
Unlike the Arlo Pro 3, this can connect directly to your wifi, instead of having to be near the hub. But I was able to connect to the hub for local storage.
Cons:
With all Arlo products, live-view is slow to connect. It can take 4-5 seconds. Also, there is a video delay of about 4-8 seconds. Other brands don't have that long delay. So don't expect this to be a fast live camera, you should be ok. Local storage works but you don't get thumbnails unless you subscribe to their service. So you have to download each video to determine what footage it is. Sucks. Arlo is trying to squeeze more money from you, pushing customers to the subscription service.
I'm happy with this purchase at $200. Not sure if I would have bought this at $250, as other cameras are cheaper. But again, this was the only wireless floodlight cam on the market.

I love every single aspect of this camera! It's easy to install, requires no hub, connected quickly to my home network, provides incredibly clear video of movement and activity in the viewing area, spans a user-selectable field of view ranging from wide to very wide, allows me to create multiple user-defined areas within the viewing area to generate notifications on, and much more.
My favorite feature is how it automatically tracks and zooms in on people, cars, animals, etc from which movement is detected. The floodlight generates a LOT of light, too. We have ours installed high above our garage looking out. So when we arrive home at night, the floodlight automatically turns on when we turn in the driveway, providing a comforting level of security.Best money we've spent on security since moving in.

The above photos are of 1) coyote and 2) bobcat recorded on this floodlight camera, in front of my house. My neighbors who have seen these shots (and others) have expressed how clear the photos are. I had not known of a bobcat being in the vicinity, but my vet neighbor agreed. I've gotten photos of groundhogs, squirrels, deer, and yes, the regular neighbor that drives down to my dead-end location. I have a couple of Arlo2 cameras, but the floodlight gave me wifi coverage far past what the 2s were showing, and the quality of the photo is excellent. You can enlarge it, so I've been able to identify the face of someone who drove down in their vehicle. I highly recommend this floodlight camera.

This is my fourth Arlo camera. I wanted to add a floodlight and researched my non-Arlo options. I did not want to run electrical wiring and the reviews on other battery-powered ones were not great. As I'm already in the Arlo eco-system and could use an extra camera I added this one. The light is pretty bright and is sensitive enough that some of the nighttime critters run quickly across our lawn instead of digging it up. Still trying to find a balance between battery life and the light but overall I'm pretty happy with this one. The video quality is much better than my older Arlo Pro cameras. I do not like the Arlo pushed their paid service on you know

I was hoping to find a security camera that was easy to use and effective. With the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight I found everything I hoped for and more. It was easy to install, easy to set up and in minutes I had it working. You can program the area that it monitors or you can leave it, and you can get a live look whenever you need it. I've already told my friends about it. One friend had a scary incident with a neighbor and needed to get something to protect her house quickly, so ordering from Amazon and getting it the very next day was ideal. I also told a friend who is moving into a new house about it so that she would have peace of mind after going from an apartment complex to a home. In both cases, the Arlo was ideal for them, too. I haven't encountered any issues with the Arlo system or the app. It's all very user friendly and easy to understand. I can't say enough about how happy I am with the Arlo Pro 3...I only wish I'd bought one sooner!

This adds a ton of confidence that it will alert people that we know they are in our driveway and a video in case they do anything. The wide video allows for more mounting options--our's looks like it's pointing down but we can see the entire driveway and use Arlo Secure to create an activity area to minimize alerts. They’re ok. They light on them are super bright & you can turn down the light if you want.
There is a 7 second delay, from the time you the feed. The more they pick up the fast the batteries have to be charged.
When amazon comes it will ding to my cell phone & I will look at it that second as the drive has already dropped the package off & headed for the truck. So 7 seconds delay doesn’t sound like a big deal. But a look can happen in 7 seconds.

I have had 4 of these lights installed with solar panels for two months now. I must say that I am really impressed. The solar panels have kept the batteries fully charged even though there have been multiple motion sensing events every evening because of animals crossing the yard. The photos and videos are clear. The only issue I have has is that the motion sensing is too sensitive resulting in videos of flying insects and that is most likely my fault for not adjusting the sensitivity. I am very happy with this purchase.

Easy to add to the Arlo app - all four cameras (yep-bought a few more) are also added to the app. Just scroll down to each one. Great value and easy to install. Like the free three-month subscription to Smart. Will continue it when it runs out. 5.0 out of 5 stars The best for motion-based security camera!

I absolutely love this product. I did a ton of research, and at the time this was the only motion-detection security camera w/ a floodlight that didn't require being plugged in! I could rave on and on about this product, but let me break it down for you guys:
- Only turns on when motion is detected. Can change sensitivity of motion detection and can set the field for detection.
- battery life lasted 39 days on my first charge. I'm still on the second charge and going strong. Not a big deal it doesn't last 6 months, just take it down, charge it a few hours and you're good to go for over a month!
- Can detect between car, animal, person, and motion. Pretty awesome feature.
- Buy the monthly premium support so you can see up to 30 days of activities.
- App is easy to use.
- Overall a great product and is recommending it to my friends!

If you're familiar with this system this motion activated floodlight camera definitely wont disappoint. The light output is exactly what I was looking for. I just wish the motion light itself could be used without being in "arm mode" and for that reason I'm deducting 1 star.
This is the answer for those of us who dont have a gang box or junction box in the area we're looking to add light. This combined with the 25' out Arlo charging cable make for the perfect combo. I used a cable management kit along the siding to hide the charging cable going from my outlet to the light.

So after weeks of trial and tribulation, I was finally able to get the flood light to work without draining the battery.
Ok so the first few weeks, I was only able to get the battery to last 1 week at a time. Had a hard time dialing the activity zones, motion detection, video settings, and other sensitivity settings. Now the battery lasts, going on 2 months now. I got the Arlo pro 3 dystem to sync with this, and now I have a camera system that is wireless and leaves no blind spots.
My only con is the recording. Unless set manually, it records 60 seconds at a time. And the first 3 seconds that activated the camera is missing unless you pay for the continuous recording plan, which in my opinion is alot.
There is quite a bit of lag, which I hope an update will fix it, when viewing live. About 3-5. I have the Arlo system hooked up to its own wifi, and still get the lag.
Overall, the convenience of the wireless system and the ability to setup anywhere in or outside your home is great. Calibration, and camera settings are easy when you fiddle around with it. The zoom feature is awesome.
Great camera, bright light, awesome picture.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bad Battery - Sub-par customer support but they did solve my problem.

Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
All the Arlo products are easy to set up. This one was not. It had a bad battery. I did a lot of troubleshooting on my own but found that ultimately the battery would not hold a charge. This issue was compounded by the fact that I couldn't set up the camera while it was connected to a power source. I find this last bit really odd. It seems that there's no way to hardwire this camera and not use a battery? Anyhow, It took me over and hours and half on hold to get a hold of a customer support person. This person was nice enough but not very "savvy". I say this because it was extremely obvious they were following a script and wanted to avoid accepting the theory I had that the battery was at fault. After a few more hold moments where this person had to consult with their manager, I was told they would send out a battery. Cool! But then it got really confusing. I was sent an email saying I had to open a ticket, if I didn't the issue would be closed and considered resolved. Didn't I open a ticket by calling? What happens if I open a ticket, will I have to go through all this all over again. So I opened the ticket. Nothing else happened for a week. Then magically a battery did show up. Nothing, else. No follow up, no next steps, no instructions. I happen to know what to do and it did actually solve my problem. But it was a terrible experience. Now that the camera is set up, I'm playing around with the settings. It seems to be pretty decent and the motion works close up. I will tweak to see if I can fine tune the distance settings as I don't want it going off for everyone just walking their dog by my house... or do I!?!?!... hmmmm

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Camera, not so great mounting unit
Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2020

I've been a fan of Arlo since the Arlo Pro came out. We had just finished building our home, and I was looking for a solution. The included mounts were great with those devices, and I used them with the 4 cameras I bought. Fast forward to July 2020. I bought this camera. I was excited to install it. I installed the included wall mount with no issues. It wasn't until I had to connect the camera case mount to the wall mount when I had issues.I had a difficult time getting the mount to click into place, when I finally did, the set screw in the case didn't line up with the hole in the mount.. When I got it to line up (it was maybe 1mm out of tolerance) I used a hand Phillips screw driver, and I barely turned it one time and the Phillips head completely stripped. So I was unable to mount the camera because it popped out of the socket. To make matters worse, I was unable to back the screw out to replace it with a new one from the hardware store. Then the customer service sent me the wrong part, even though during our chat, I sent a picture of the exact part I needed. I've been waiting for a month for the correct part, and it was finally shipped to me today.Again, this situation may have given this fewer stars for most people, but the review is for the camera it self. I am not going to let poor customer support lower the star rating of this camera, because my other cameras I've never had to contact customer support on. Plus I am sure customer support, like everything in the world these days, is not going easy. People are stressed, frustrated, etc. It's easy for people to discount them and rate poorly. I am trying to be fair in this.I hope they sent the right part, and I will have the camera installed later this week.

I love this pro3 floodlight camera. I see several bad reviews here but I have had mine for a little over 3 months and zero problems. Works great. But one thing Arlo does not tell you is that after the 3 month free trial, without notice the activity zones quit working. Error message states, "activity zones not working because your camera is not connected to AC. Connect to AC and your zones will activate." I had to dig very deep before finding a notice saying that if you are not subscribed to their service then you have to connect the camera to AC. The outdoor cable costs $50 and reading the reviews on the cable I decided it would be better to pay the $36 yearly subscription cost to keep the activity zones if nothing else. Nowhere does Arlo state plainly anything about this. Like I said I had to dig pretty deep to find it. I have 2 of the earlier regular cameras and have had no problems. Arlo cameras work great for me even if the company is a bit shady.

The short motion detection distance makes it basically useless for my driveway.
A rose bush about 20 feet from it sets it off regularly when moved by wind.
Person standing there waving arms does not. Only picks up person or animal at about 10 feet.
Got this to replace a Pro and security light but it will not do what's needed.
Good idea but needs work. Maybe they will come out with a firmware upgrade for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall an ok purchase
Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2021
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
I purchased and installed this camera for a relative. And, from what I can witness, it's a better camera than I thought. I was comparing this with the Arlo 4 Pro. I'm glad I got this one instead. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the Arlo 4 Pro is good for a camera near the door. But, if you are looking for something to light up an entire area, for example a driveway, the Arlo 3 Pro Floodlight is the way to go. It is super bright! And with the magnetic plug (not included in package. separate purchase required), it gets even brighter.
I can't tell you as far a battery life. But, unfortunately, my relatives aren't tech savvy like me. They need something that they don't have to keep maintaining, recharging, etc. Therefore, save yourself the trouble and get the magnetic cable charger for the camera. Saves yourself the trouble of constantly recharging and you get the bonus of a brighter light from it.
You will get what typically comes with Arlo. Controlling areas of activity, instant notifications, security protocols, animal or person recognition, and all the typical software features that come with every camera. The 2k visibility is a nice bonus. Motion sensor is probably 3-5 feet away. Caught a cat running across the middle of the driveway!
Now onto the things where the camera falls short. Unfortunately the range of the motion camera doesn't extend that far. The sidewalk leading up to the driveway doesn't detect on the motion sensor. Also, the product advertises that it is "colored night vision". This is not the case. Still black and white for night vision. The only way it becomes "colored" is when the motion sensor is activated and then it turns on the floodlight. At that point it switched from night vision to regular vision and then the video captured turns to color. This is misleading advertising.
As I said, the 2k is a nice feature. When up close, you can see better facial features than the previous camera editions. But, by mid driveway or near the end of the driveway (closer to the street), you can't see facial features and good luck reading license plates.
Software is occasionally buggy. Sometimes I'll instruct it to activate the floodlight and it won't. Sometimes the camera won't be active at all. Therefore, I'll need to reboot the camera every time this happens.
Something else worth mentioning is the Arlo software still has issues as far a lag (it's not completely "Live" - having a 5 to 10 second delay. It also lags logging on). This has never improved since they first came out. If you hope to log in right away when you are on a trip or away from home, expect to be waiting for a while to log in and then a while to connect to the camera. It feels like an eternity sometimes! Talking from your phone and through the camera, expect it to be choppy, laggy, or non-existent. They should really work on this!
It's also unclear about the service that the camera provides. It's unclear both on the site and instructions as far as the limited free service that it provides. Someone mentioned about this too in one of the comments. I purchased, for my relatives, an extensive and premium service and, now, I'm unsure if that is part of the service or it's something I have to pay more? Can someone help me with this?

The Spotlight Camera Works Great. You have to have AC power hooked up to use Activity zones however. I have been with ARLO since they first came out several years ago. It has been a tedious few years as they have upgraded the cameras and the way the system works. My biggest issue is them quietly changing the Smart subscription service to only allow 5 Cameras. I have 10 in the Legacy Smart Plan and I plan on adding at least 3 more. So I changed my subscription to accommodate 16 cameras then I find out Smart is only available if I pay an extra $2.50 per month PER CAMERA...OUTRAGEOUS. So now I am stuck with NO Cameras utilizing the Smart features. I can only use Activity Zones if the cameras have an AC power source. RIDICULOUS. If I wasn't so far into this I would be throwing it all out and going with something else.

Considering it has to be mounted high and the battery is a problem consider hard wiring it to an outlet if you use sound. It even picks up the sound of wind. I am going to try a solar panel first. I currently have an Arlo Pro 2 setup in my house and was looking to get a better view of my driveway at night. I have a LED floodlight with a sensor, but I felt like it was not doing the trick with my current arlo camera there. I purchased the floodlight and so far it has done the trick. It is nice and bright, clear picture, and integrated with my current arlo setup. You need to make sure you have a good wifi signal throughout your home for the arlo system to work effectively. If you do not, the further your cameras are away from the base, the likely hood of them not connecting increases. It does it's job. Only downside is the price and the fact that you can only set the light in 5 minute intervals. I was trying to do two minutes to save battery but also provide enough time to get in the house at night. You could theoretically get a cheaper camera and an LED flood light with a sensor that would do the same thing. But for the system integration and ease of use it is worth it. O

the camera floodlight siren works. had a little trouble connecting to a new wifi router but customer service was able to help me out really quick. they also helped me troubleshoot the floodlight. it was not triggering to turn on with motion but we figured out it was because it needed to be set to a higher brightness to catch motion in the daytime. now everything works like a charm.
Only one quip is that it comes with a battery charger that requires you to remove it from the mount in order to charge and the system will not work while it's charging. Arlo does offer an alternative method to charge while still mounted and working by using a magnetic charging cord but it is not included in the package. you have to purchase it separately.

Plenty of people have reviewed the camera performance so i wont bother. But the install solution could be so much better. The best install option is to replace an existing light and hardwire it. But the ceiling mount is a larger diameter than a normal box, and the hardwire is super long and bulky. The wire is only t wires so wasnt hard to cut to shorten. And while your at it you can put it through the mount for a nice tight fit. If you do that, you can shove the plug into the box and you have a nice clean install and never have to charge

This camera is far from perfect. Let’s get the good out of the way.
The light is CRAZY BRIGHT!
The picture quality is very good.
The Bad.
Motion detection is pretty bad, especially at night. Actually.... night time motion detection is just terrible. It Will pick up large objects like humans or cars but animals not so much. The false detections are real. Very often only the light will turn on but not record. I woke up one morning to find the light got triggered and stayed on for 2.5 hours and didn’t record anything. I only knew because I had another camera watching the same area. I have motion alerts on an Alexa routine and at night I’ll get the alert form Alexa but the floodlight won’t record anything. All it does it turn the floodlights on. Very odd.

really like my flood light. My front porch light went out a while ago and I was uncomfortable knowing my kids and guest were coming home to a dark door. But thanks to my floodlight my problem is solved all while adding security as well. My only issue is how long of a delay it takes to show the recorded video in my hub. I already have 2 other arlo cameras setup outside so I just added this one to my existing hub. I’m able to view my other cameras recording before my floodlight video becomes available to see. But that may be a network issue.

My only issue is I’d like to be able to see them from an Amazon echo show more easily- the integration is not great even if you can get it to work and it definitely not smooth or user friendly. Just be aware.
But luckily with so many people watching these cameras, we love these cameras!

Love this product. The 2K feature is amazing. The quality is on point and incomparable by far. To zoom tracking, hands down, my favorite feature. I had the Arlo Pro 3 system and absolutely loved that as well; wasn't a fan of needing a hub for a few reasons. If you want a great security camera.. definitely consider Arlo. You won't be disappointed. Missing a star because to optimize all features of this camera you will need to charge the battery at least once every other week, if not more. All-in-all.. not upset with the near $300 spent.

First, the camera system is wonderful and was super excited to get it as I was replacing the Arlo 3 normal camera with this one for the driveway. The light is bright and perfect for my needs. My only real Knock to a star was because I was super frustrated with the plastic mounting bracket. It’s cheap and literally doesn’t mount well with the weight of the camera being heavier than the standard arlo3. Yet the Arlo 3 mount kits are metal and more realistic for this setup. I hope they make the change and make a metal mounting bracket for this camera system that comes with the camera. Mine kept popping off and he siding because of the locking mechanism not keeping it tightly secured with any leverage or movement of camera.

The battery doesn’t last longer than a day if it’s recording what I need it to record. It actually only lasts for just over one day. So you need to keep it plugged, either with the outdoor plug or solar panel. I opted for the outdoor plug and it has been keeping the battery charged. The other thing I want to mention is that the video quality is great. Except it doesn’t always record when it picks up motion. The floodlight comes on but it doesn’t always record it. The floodlight is nice and bright even when it’s not on the highest setting, especially since it’s always plugged in. I didn’t give it five stars because of the minor negatives, but I still think I made a great purchase.

I've had it a few days now. Decent camera. Nice video output, strong and stable Wi-Fi connect. I've got 2 other Arlo cams and love them. However this is losing 2 stars for greed on the company's part. It's a flood light. The battery is going to drain, and I expect that, however I have 2 other Arlo products and power cables and charge them with ease, but now they have decided that you have to buy a separate 50$ "outdoor" cable to charge this while using it. I need another one in my back yard area, but will be looking at other options so I can continue providing power over a cable and not spend an extra 50$ on it(100$ for 2 lights). I believe this merits 2 star drops since it doesn't even come with the indoor magnet cable, but with a micro USB so you have to remove it to charge it at all.

In fairness, maybe my situation is unique... maybe. The camera is just as good if not better than all my other arlo's, although I had always wanted one for the driveway. One that has a motion-activated light and recording? Count me in. Received, installed with a solar panel, went up excellent. Found the base station and off I went... it was incredibly simple to install. The problems started after that. It only detects maybe 10-15 feet out reliably. I would be standing literally in the dead center of frame waving at it violently and it just stares at me. Now, I could accept that... however for some reason it "randomly" alerts on passing cars 50 feet away, and I do mean randomly. 50 cars could go by and all of a sudden it see's one it likes or something... donno. Did all the troubleshooting, worked with their support (which is excellent) and something's just not right about motion reliability. Even using activity zones it just randomly alerts on something way outside of the zone. Yes I read every manual available and tried pretty much everything we could think of. Great camera, probably works very well for just outside of the house in the smaller driveway, but my particular use case I was expecting maybe little more in terms of distance and reliability. Wouldn't be so bad if it didn't alert me at 2am that a car randomly drove by outside the activity zone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing key features
Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2021

The light is great and the definition is good, but this floodlight camera is missing some key features. One is it only records when it detects movement or sound, so you can't speed-search by scrolling through the whole day like you can do with Nest cams, which is very annoying if you're looking for something specific and don't have an estimated time, as you have to select each recording and let it play until you find what you're looking for. Plus, the app keeps sending you back to the top (last recorded video) every time you play another video, so you have to remember what time was the last video you saw; a monumental waste of time. Another feature it's missing is to allow the camera to stay on for a reasonable amount of time. I would want my light to stay on for 5 minutes when it detects a person, but the most you can do is keep it on for 2 minutes IF that's the specified recording length. This is not enough time to get out of a car if you have grocery bags, and rather than staying on because there's movement, the light turns off and takes a second to turn back on. The app is also not super intuitive to set the parameters.

3.0 out of 5 stars Functional, but quality issues
Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2021
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
UPDATE. With the mounting plate replaced, and the unit mounted, I can add a couple of stars to the rating.
I bought the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera to upgrade the Arlo Pro camera guarding my driveway. I liked the idea of adding a floodlight to the driveway as an extra security measure. Around the house, have six Arlo Pro cameras powered by solar panels and six Arlo lights. On the front door, I have an Arlo Pro camera and an Arlo doorbell camera. Also, I have a couple of Arlo Qs inside the house. In other words, I'm a long-time Arlo user and have generally been an Arlo fan.
I had to order a replacement for the mounting plate because I made the mistake of using the screws that came with the unit to mount the unit to wood. Even with pilot holes, the screw head stripped, and I damaged the cheap plastic mounting plate trying to get the screw out. My bad. I've worked with Arlo stuff long enough not to trust the cheap components that come with it. Arlo customer service was accommodating and sent a replacement mounting plate. I went to the hardware store to buy wood screws and used them to mount the replacement mounting plate.
Using wood screws, the installation was simple, took a few minutes. A concern, the only thing holding the big unit against the wall is a tiny screw. Even when it is screwed in tightly, the unit still twists on the mount; so, we'll see how long the mounting lasts. Also, mounting the heavy unit on a plastic mount seems risky; the unit wobbles in the wind. I recommend that Arlo rethink the mounting plate option, replacing it with a deeper metal plate for--at least give the impression of--improving quality.
The image quality is exceptional, and the floodlight brightly lights the entire front yard. The floodlight triggers almost instantly, about 1 second lag time from motion to light. I wish I could say the same for the camera. Even with the strongest Wi-Fi and fastest Internet connection money can buy, my Arlo Pro cameras have a 5-8 second lag. I was expecting a similar lag time with the Arlo Pro Floodlight Camera. I was disappointed to find that the lag time is usually worse, from 8 to 20 seconds. I know that Arlo might blame that on the Wi-Fi network or distance from the base. But, the lag time remains the same if I test it five feet from the router without any obstructions. That means someone can walk from one end of the view to the other, and the camera only captures them leaving the view.
The motion detection is strong. Set at 80%, the light and camera capture movement up to 35 feet away, easily covering the entire driveway and sidewalk.
I can't speak about the battery life yet. But, be prepared for a huge battery. The battery is 3 times longer than the standard Arlo battery, but it still fits with the same charger. I have a mount for an Arlo solar panel that I used for the Arlo Pro camera. However, Arlo Pro Floodlight Camera requires a different solar panel ($60) or a different outdoor cable ($50 for 25 ft.) for external charging. I'll wait for the first battery charge to wear out before buying the solar panel.
The auto-tracking feature is kind of cool but seems experimental at best. It degrades the images. Also, it has difficulty tracking the motion. It gets confused if there are multiple moving objects in the frame. For example, if I'm walking in the driveway, it focuses on the flag waving on the edge of the view.
PRIOR REVIEW
I will update this once I have a working system mounted. Meanwhile, a tip:
If you're mounting the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera on wood, toss the screws that come with it and get some real wood screws from the hardware store.
The screws that come with the unit melted. The heads stripped as I screwed them in by hand. And, yes, I drilled pilot holes. Attempting to hack saw the screw, I damaged the cheap plastic mounting plate and had to call customer service for a replacement.
I blame myself. As a long-time Arlo user with seven cameras, six lights, and five solar panels, I learned long ago that Arlo's functionality is solid. Still, Arlo components are cheap, especially the mounts and the mounting screws. I usually buy third-party components before mounting Arlo equipment; but, no third-party mounting components are available for the floodlight camera.
Meanwhile, as an Arlo user and fan, a suggestion for Arlo: Sweat the small stuff! Improve the quality of the components. This heavy and long unit should include a wall mount made from metal and quality screws for wood.

3.0 out of 5 stars A lot to like, but falls short

After having tried a number of cloud-based camera solutions a few years ago, I landed on Arlo, eventually getting an army of Pro 2 cameras. At some point I inherited pair of Ring floodlight cameras. They were wired (no battery hassles and harder to steal) ,very bright and the video quality was superior to the Arlo 2. But they couldn't differentiate a cat from a human being. Alerts all night long to the point where I turned them off. So, do I keep the device with better specs that cannot perform one of its primary functions well, or the other product that can see a cat it a cat but otherwise has half the umph? Then I saw the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight. I didn't read much of the fine print and ordered two.
The are pretty bright, about as good as the Ring. The video quality is good. But, it's still easy to steal as a very accessible button lets it slide right off the mount. With the Pro 3 Flood light, you are forced to point the camera and lights in the same direction. Sometimes, that's just not useful. It relies on a behemoth of a battery. You can have the unit wired using a proprietary magnetic connector with a long cord. Ever see a house with Nest cameras and a spiderweb of wires? Eew. I thought that I'd just use the USB port I know that it has. But you can't access the USB port when it's mounted. Netgear decided that micro USB ports are only for indoor use and hid it inside the body of the camera so that it is only accessible when you open it up... to get the battery out... that you'll put in a charger you bought separately... when you swap out the second battery you had to purchase separately. And to make sure you don't end up cutting a hole in the mount so that you can access the USB port that you bought and now own, Netgear decided to disable camera's stream while it's charging via USB.
Now the decision came down to sticking with the Ring floodlight cameras or having to perpetually swap out batteries with the Arlo units., investing another $200 in batteries and a charging base, or paying a ridiculous price for a proprietary charging cable I don't want to see wrapped around the outside of my house.
Then I found the Wasserstein 3-in-1 Floodlight. It's basically a dumb PIR-based floodlight that runs on 120v, but it has a camera mount and high voltage USB port built in. In other words, you can mount an Arlo camera on it and and properly power it enough to simultaneously have charging and video. The flood light isn't the brightest, but hey, it's 1/5 the price of the Pro 3 Floodlight using a camera I already own. For now, I believe that's the best bang for the buck.

3 month Update : Once the three month free trial ends you lose all alerts and detection capabilities. You can still view the camera feed and the light still comes on, but you won’t have the notifications and video clip storage until you buy into their subscription plan. While for one camera it’s only $3 a month and not a big deal, full disclosure from Arlo about this would have been nice. I knew I would lose person/animal detection capabilities, I didn’t realize I would lose ALL alerts and storage capabilities even with a hard drive plugged into the base station. So if you are thinking about buying this, just be aware of what happens after the free trial is over. Rating dropped from 4 to 3 stars due to the lack of information after the free trial ends.
It was easy to install, instructions were clear and easy to understand. The camera has a good quality picture with a wide angle. The motion detection seems to have a good range on it. Overall I am pleased with the purchase. My only issue would be that the light isn’t as bright as I was expecting. I have the charging cable run to it and the light setting is at 100%. It is still bright enough to light up the immediate area in front of it.

It was working perfectly. Last night went offline. This morning I tried to fix it. I was trying to connect back to my wifi. For two hours I was trying so hard:
- I push the reset button. I pulled the battery, and nothing.
So, I deleted the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight Camera from the app on my phone.
- Now, I opened the App on my phone and I added a new device, the Arlo Pro 3.
- So, again, I pushed the reset button, waiting for the amber light and the the blue one to scan my code from my phone and it was looking for my Arlo device. It can't find my Arlo device.
- I pulled the battery for 5 seconds like the guide says. I put it back, waiting for the blue light to scan the code from my phone, and, again, it can't find my Arlo Pro 3 device.
I did it for I don't know how many times and nothing. (May be 30 times)
- Between those attempts, I restarted my phone and my router.
All my devices, phone, laptops are in the same router. Yes, my router has the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz.
Yes, my phone was in the same 2.4 gHz like the Arlo Pro 3 was.
Like say, It was working perfectly for 22 days and then this. I was very frustrated. I calmly made a decision to return it. I can't have something that is not reliable.
Arlo Pro 3 is easy to go offline but difficult to put it back online.

The setup was easy but there is about a 10 second delay to activate the live camera along with a delay in movement alerts. Lastly the activation zones is really only the lower half of the viewable picture. If the camera is set too high, everything results in an alert, but if the camera is set too low, you won’t get alerted until someone is halfway up the driveway... to find a perfect location and activation section is difficult. What I like overall is that it was an easy setup and works well overall despite the lack of fine tuning. A cheaper option is going with an Essential camera XL and a Wasserstein base. Not made for Minnesota weather- cold weather drains the batteries fast as they are not insulated. When it gets under 30, the batteries drain much faster, won’t charge and when it gets negative digits, the cameras shutoff. Arlo never stated real world stats or what to expect. Poor performance for such expensive cameras

Everything went smoothly until I went to check the notifications only to find that the library for this camera was empty. After doing some research it turns out that Arlo took away the free 7 day cloud feature that came previously free with the Pro 2 and stuck it behind a subscription service for the Pro 3. No subscription = no video history. Doesn't matter if you have a usb drive plugged in for local storage, you just get a notification for movement. thats it. Also the wireless connection appears to be weaker on the Pro 3 compared to Pro 2. It kept disconnecting.

Set too low and it tends to only trigger when there's motion on my elevated deck. Too high and the light comes on every time the wind blows. Not really sure if it's a software or hardware issue but prevents me from giving higher stars. Additionally the included mount didn't quite give me the angle I'd like. Finally, it's rather annoying that magnetic charger is yet another overpriced accessory.

Also I tried to use magnetic charging cable which I found out blocked the cam from working. I was informed the magnetic cable was for indoor charging. So I am led to purchase a solar charge from Carlo. So the sagas continues. The advertised features are very attractive but all are only available with a subscription to arlo at additional cost.

Quality is great. And battery lasts a long time. I’m new to cameras and home automation. Bought this camera because it would integrate with HomeKit and looked like it was 120vac. That’s what the spec card says, but it means the charger for the battery. So that was unexpected. But as an advantage, the battery will allow you to mount the camera anywhere you want! This is great and flexible. If you want continuous power however, you have to buy a $50 cable that continually charges it. And the light won’t get as bright as it can without this. Still 3000 lumens and it is more than bright enough. The app controls are good. Quality is great. But there is some subscription. After 3 months I’ll know what I can and can’t access after that. My goal is to integrate it with my other cameras to see if I can have it write to localized NAS. To integrate it with HomeKit you have to buy a “smart hub” from Arlo that allows it to talk to Apple’s HomeKit. This is where the IT professionals make their money. Maybe I’m just to amateur for these integrated systems. But every time I buy a camera or piece of technology I think I’m spending $250, Then I find out I need a $50 cable, then I get that and find out I need a $150 hub. Seems like an endless racket. And after 3 months I’ll probably have to pay a monthly fee.

The motion sensing is good for about 3 ft for someone walking. Most of the motion sensing captured is someone just out of the picture, usually their back. Pretty useless for a driveway as the camera won't pick up motion unless the perp is already in your car backing out of the driveway.
The wireless, battery operation doesn't allow for constant record, so you have to rely on motion, which is horrible.
Overpriced and all hype. It would be great if you used it to capture using a local storage device, which defeats the purpose of a cloud based security system. All a thief has to do is walk off with the base station that houses an SD card.

I currently have 3 Arlo Ultra 4k cameras all using Wasserstein power cables with no problems. When I bought this floodlight I ordered those same cables since the floodlight uses the exact same cable connector as the Ultra 4k cameras. I like Wasserstein because they are priced reasonably and are great quality.
The problem is this floodlight camera disables itself when using anything other than Arlo's own, (and ridiculously overpriced), power cable. What the heck Arlo??????
In the first screenshot you can see how the floodlight disabled itself when it was plugged in with the Wasserstein power cable. The funny thing is in that screenshot the camera just below it, (Arlo Ultra), is using the same Wasserstein cable and is working just fine. There is no explanation for this other than Arlo is getting greedy and implementing firmware updates designed to block 3rd party power cables. I wouldn't mind buying Arlo's cables, but theirs is $50... yeah, $50 for a USB cable!!
The camera itself is good and the light is bright so I'm keeping it. You can definitely tell it isn't as good as the 4k cameras which makes me wonder why the floodlight isn't offered in a 4k version. But my biggest gripe is that if all new Arlo cameras are going to require only Arlo branded cables I probably won't be buying any more. I've been a loyal Arlo customer and have recommended them to friends and family, but that stops now unless Arlo lets us use 3rd party cables like all of their older cameras allow.
I picked up the stupid $50 cable yesterday and now it's working as it should have with the other cables. There's no reason it shouldn't have worked with the Wasserstein cable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Incomplete Description of Features
Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2020
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
Update 12/31/20 - so now clear. IF you forgo a paid subscription, you CAN record to a thumb drive plugged into an Arlo hub. As bizarre as it sounds, you can only watch these videos if you unplug the thumb drive from the Arlo hub, and plug it into your computer. Which is not convenient, not at all.
Update 10/1 - Arlo says in a product answer “Smart (subscription) is required for the Pro 3 Floodlight for Cloud Storage. Without Smart, videos can be saved if the Pro 3 Floodlight is used in conjunction with an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station and utilizing the Local Storage feature”
Not 100% true.
This setup will not let you manually record anything, only motion-triggered events.
That being said, my Arlo hub now has a USB thumb drive attached and does NOT record motion that the app senses and notifies you of.
Update 8/04 - so HomeKit support added - fantastic.
Not so fantastic - after a a 7-1/2 power outage, won’t reconnect to the Arlo base station. And it’s not in a convenient location... turns out it does reconnect but unlike other Arlos it’s hours not minutes.
Also after an app upgrade the same thing happens.
Aaaand you have to pay a fee with this one to see any videos.
—-
Very well designed, bright (I mounted it on the one side of house with no floodlights.) As such I could use the power cord so that gives maximum brightness. The only complaint (and yes shame on me but...) unlike all other Arlo cams and Arlo bases and even the similar Arlo Cam Spotlight (or whatever) this is based on - it's NOT HomeKit compatible! Probably a firmware update. One suggestion is the waterproof USB extension cord/connector - offer shorter ones for those that don't need 40 feet.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great camera, terrible app
Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2021
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
The camera itself is very good with high image quality but the app has so many problems I don't even know where to begin. The settings seem to make zero difference. For example, the motion activated light is supposed to stay on for 1 minute but it never stays on that long, so I changed it to 5 minutes. Still doesn't stay on for 1 minute. I changed it to 10 minutes. Still doesn't stay on even for 1 minute. I honestly don't see the point in this setting when it makes absolutely no difference to how the camera functions. Just remove it and stop giving users the impression you can control how this thing functions!
"Activity areas" are also pointless. They are supposed to give you notifications for specific areas that you mark out on the app, but the app just ignores them and notifies you when there is movement anywhere on camera. Again, not sure what the point is of this setting when it doesn't change the app behavior. When I do a google search on this issue, turns out users have been having this problem for years and Arlo still hasn't managed to figure out how to fix it. That's not a good sign.
The camera and/or light is also constantly stopping for no apparent reason. I have to restart the device repeatedly, so I have no confidence that if I just leave it alone without constantly checking to see if it's working that it will actually do what's it's supposed to do. Now it has stopped recording detected motion for no apparent reason. Guess I'll restart the camera. AGAIN. And hope that will fix the problem. Otherwise, I'll have to get out the ladder so I can remove the battery again. I don't restart my phone or my computer this often, so why is this app constantly breaking?
Sigh. Such a pity that such a good quality camera is paired with such a useless and badly designed app! I was planning to buy more cameras and a video doorbell, but I will not be buying more Arlo products because of the app and I would not recommend their products for this reason.
UPDATE: I literally have to restart this camera EVERYDAY because that's how often it stops working. And you can't actually download any of the videos! Like I really don't understand the point of this camera. It's a security camera and you can't watch the video on your computer, you can't download onto your computer (there's a "download" button, of course, but typical Arlo it doesn't actually do anything), and you can't share videos with anyone else. So as a security device, it is completely useless. The only place to watch recordings is the app, and then when you try to download a video to your phone, it cuts the video in half and that's all you get. Like WTF Arlo? I was seriously excited about this product until I started using it. I will never buy another Arlo product again. Way too expensive and just doesn't work. Buy at your own risk.

2.0 out of 5 stars Update: reduced three stars :(
Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2021
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
UPDATED UPDATED REVIEW: I'm knocking this down another star. I love the camera, the camera is not the problem, but I returned the first one due to the mount and returning the second one for the same reason. Both mounts had the same issues:
1st issue is the angle adjustment for the camera is one of those rotating ball connections. The camera with battery installed is too heavy for this rotating ball mount and after a few days, the camera is pointing to the ground because of the weight (I found a fix for this. In the back of the rotating ball, there is a rubber plug. This is not mentioned in the directions at all. When you remove the rubber plug, there is a hole that goes deep into the rotating ball. I put a screw into the hole - not screwed in, just stuck it in as support. Now the camera angle does not fall toward the ground from the weight!) Secondly, after pushing the release button on the mount housing to remove the camera battery for recharging, after charging the camera battery unit, it will not "snap" back into place. These issues happened with both units and I am returning the replacement camera, as well (another update, I got the second camera to snap back in, so I didn't return it after all. I ordered the magnetic charging cord, so now I don't need to release the camera battery from the housing and it is currently snapped snuggly into place.
UPDATED REVIEW: I'm knocking this down 2 stars for 2 reasons: 1) Even though I have an Arlo base hub unit, in order for the videos to record after the free trial, you have to have an Arlo subscription OR you can plug an external hard drive to the base unit and then it will record to the hard drive BUT you cannot view the videos from the app. And 2) after removing the camera from the housing to charge, it wouldn't snap back into place. Nothing appears broken to cause this, so I am using tape to hold it to the housing base (I am being sent a replacement though).
ORIGINAL REVIEW: There is good and "not so good" about this floodlight camera. The reason I bought it was because my Arlo Pro camera I had over my garage was "night vision" black and white footage at night. So I replaced it with this floodlight camera.
What I like: 1) easy to install and set up. 2) nice panoramic view 3) I walked out to the middle of my street after dark (I was not in the line of the camera until I was in the middle of the street) and the floodlight lit up blindingly and recorded me in full color 4) you do not need a base hub you can link it to your wifi directly, but after the 3 months free trial, you have to pay a subscription even if you have an Arlo base station.
So far, the only negatives are 1) you cannot leave it plugged in (hardwired) like I did my other Arlo Pro camera because the charging port is inside a housing sleeve unless you buy a special charging cord for another $50, and 2) the mounting configuration is limited; meaning wherever you mount the base (which is required because this is the only mounting option) the camera can only be tilted about 45° from the base. A straight-forward mounting is ideal for this camera. I will update my post as I have more info.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very sluggish and unstable performance
Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2021
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
I was expecting that for the price of the camera its performance would've been better.
The camera can only be accessed through their mobile app, and even though I have a wifi mesh throughout the house, the camera response is very sluggish taking sometimes up to a minute to display video and connect, and sometimes it just won't connect, stating that the camera appears to be offline, which is. really frustrating. I get more performance from cheap Chinese wifi video cameras available today.
The only useful feature I've gotten from the camera is the motion sensor that can be configurable by defining a movement area, and to turn on the floodlight, but other than that, nothing more when it comes to display video or communicate via the integrated two way audio. There's always a delay in audio or motion detection.
I had to buy for additional $50 a magnetic charging cord, and if you want the additional "advanced" features like automatic zooming, and recording, you have to pay an additional monthly fee, which honestly, the camera performance doesn't even deserve to waste money on a monthly subscription for additional features.
I'm really disappointed for spending that much money on a camera, when there's now cheaper option for wifi cameras that do almost the same for a lot less. Hope Arlo could address the performance of the floodlight with a firmware update.

2.0 out of 5 stars Low Quality Mounting Options
Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2021
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
Aside from the decent camera and light, reviews for which abound, you should know that the mounting options here are truly terrible. The mounting plate is plastic, and brittle at that. There are only 3 screws needed, but zero extra provided just in case. The metal of the screws is so incredibly soft that even with pre-drilling, the heads get deformed making sinking the screws all the way in difficult. That is important because you cannot screw on the swivel mount otherwise. Speaking of which, one miniscule screw, not even a tamper resistant one, is all that keeps a quarter turn of the mount from resulting in someone walking away with your camera. Ridiculous. Furthermore, the nature of the swivel mount being integrated to the camera housing means that you cannot readily use other mounting options that might provide better stability or security. Good luck contacting technical support through the website, without running in circles with their chat-bot. Support through the app was better, but the bar there very low.

2.0 out of 5 stars >$200 for 3 months function is not worth it.

I waited after the 3 month trial period was over to write my review, and it came like an expiration date. The camera no longer functions as it did in the beginning. It drops off the network and stopped detecting motion. It is pretty useless as a security camera now. It does function like a $20 motion sensor light however. I don’t think paying for a subscription will fix it. I have a doorbell camera about 10 ft away which works fine, but that is less than 3 months old. Review to come at 3 months.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Pain from Day 1

This camera has not lived up to its glowing reviews. Yes, the video quality is great. But don’t count on the battery to last 6 months—that’s a joke! We were lucky to get a week, even with the battery on lowest settings. It would drain overnight if it rained, or snowed, or got foggy, or the wind kicked up. So last week we paid the $50 for the power cord. That problem is solved, no thanks to customer service, which never followed up despite my having called multiple times. The darn thing still just randomly goes offline, despite a WiFi booster, good positioning, and strong signal. Majorly frustrated to have spent so much time and effort on this thing. Oh, and you have to have a subscription to keep the good features they tout. No thanks. My ring security light and camera work much better, with less hassle!
UPDATE 3/23/21: The less than 6 month old floodlight camera has died altogether. We have been offered a new one by Arlo for $150, or we can send the dead one back, at our expense, and wait to receive a refurbished one “which has been tested and working when shipped.” Save your money and buy something else. I’m really disgusted.

There is no excuse for it going offline whenever it feels like it. Tonight, I removed the device from the app, and attempted to re-add it. Now the app can't find the camera! I am DONE, I will never buy another Arlo product and it is getting RETURNED.

Alro has no telephone number or email or chat with a real person if you have an issue setting up the cameras unless you purchased their "monthly plan". I just purchased 5 cameras and 2 did not read the QR code to set up. I needed simple help and after 3 hours on the phone 1st with Amazon, then with Asurion (the 3yr warranty company I paid extra to) then transferred to God knows who that could not speak English clearly and was supposed to be the Arlo Tech support (which I am sure was not) I couldn't get anywhere!!!
Luckily I had a great CSR from Amazon that helped out tremendously which ultimately solved my issue with a return and replacement.
Great cameras but if you have any question at all...you're basically on your own.

The camera itself works great. Picture quality and night vision are excellent. The problem is that it requires a subscription to work. You get 3 months of video access but after that period you need to pay for a monthly subscription in order to access the video from the camera. If you don't agree to pay for subscription access, the phone app will ping you to tell you the camera has been motion activated and has recorded a video but it will not allow you to play the video. Period, end of discussion! At this point the camera might as well be a doorstop. Despite it being a very good camera, I can't recommend it unless you're willing to pay for access to your videos.

I installed it, I loved it and then after 90 days it stopped recording videos. I could only use it to view live footage. I had no idea that I had to sign up for a subscription service to store the video. So I returned it to Amazon for a full refund. As my other Arlo cameras do not require a subscription, why would one think this camera would need. Very misleading. Camera is great, marketing tactics, not so great.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible camera - Poor Picture Quality, Flaky Motion Detection, Bad Tech Support
Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2020
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
I bought this camera to alert when cars are coming through my driveway to my house.
Picture Quality:
I have attached three images showing objects at 2-3 meters (6-9 ft) from the camera. The first two are at full daylight, but you can barely recognize the face and the license plate is unreadable. These two screenshots are the best frames that I could find in the video stored as motion was recognized. The last photo is at night, the car is stopped and the license plate is completely washed out. This happened when using both: the IR or the floodlight.
Motion Detection
The drive way leading to my gate is about 150 m (~500 ft), yet when the motion detection catches a vehicle, the video starts when the vehicle is about 5-10 m (~15-30 ft) from the gate. The approach is never part of the video even if the car is moving at about 10 miles per hour.
Also, it doesn't always detect the cars. Today, It missed a USPS delivery truck coming, dropping off a package by the gate and leaving. Also, it missed a friend leaving on a minivan. For both of these events I was next to the gate and neither were recorded.
Technical Support
I tried to contact tech support. In the app it has two options: <company> support (support.arlo.com) and community support (community.arlo.com). I only tried the company support. Clicking the link on the app takes you a website that encourages self help. Talking to a representative happens via chat. The chat is launched in Safari (in iOS) not in the Arlo app. The most terrible thing is that if you switch app (you get a call, or go to look at the Arlo app) the chat disconnects and you have to start over. It does not reconnect, and when you start a chat again you go back to the queue. I tried a couple of times and gave up.
After the chat, I got an email that a case was created. You cannot follow up with support via email. The email is sent from an unmonitored email address. I clicked in the link to give additional details, but the support channel is a one way communication. You can update your case, but you cannot see any of the previous communications. I received an email saying that my case requires "additional information to proceed", but it does not specify what information is needed. When I go to the support portal, there is no history again, just a text box and a "Update Case" green button.
===
This is really one of the worst product/tech/service I have received in a very long time, and I am used to buying new tech from young companies. USPS is coming by tomorrow to pick up the return.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY!
Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2020
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
The camera has many annoying issues. After our car was broken into, we decided to get a camera so we could catch anyone trying it again in the middle of the night. First we tried the Ring floodlight, which worked pretty great. The only problem being the motion detection at night depends on IR sensors that don’t seem to work well unless very near the camera.
So we went with the highly reviewed Arlo Floodlight. Alerts are delayed more than the Ring app, then when you go to the live view, you are on a loading screen for 8-15 seconds before it starts playing. It only gets about 66% as bright as advertised unless you buy the $50 cord. You also don’t get the videos that look back 3 seconds unless you have that cord.
Now all of this was annoying enough, but there is a HUGE defect that causes the light to turn on, and not shut off all night. It drains the battery, even plugged in. This will drastically reduce the life of your LED’s. Large numbers of people have complained to support, and on the Arlo forums, and it hasn’t been fixed. It’s been at least 6 months and no fix. I can’t stress this enough, DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA.

Every ARLO Camera I've bought comes with a power cord and can be permanently powered in place from an outlet so you never have to worry about climbing up a ladder to recharge a battery... EXCEPT this one!
Oh sure, it came with a USB power cord like all the others, but the camera CANNOT be powered permanently with it because the idiot that designed the camera only lets you charge the battery via USB after taking the camera down and taking it apart... so yea, you'll need the ladder!
And oh sure, I can pony up another $50 for a "special" magnetic power cord that avoids taking it down to charge it... but it's 25 FEET LONG!!!! My outlet is 3 feet away so now I'll have an extra 22 foot coil of wire hanging there.
I couldn't wait to give this camera 5 stars but ARLO burned me on this one and I'm stunned by the stupidity of this design...
--- ARLO, include the RIGHT damn power cord for permanent power, and make it the same length as all the other power cords... if I need 25 feet, I'll pony up the extra money for the special cable. ARLO, get your act together!

I have xFi from xfinity and it is capable of broadcasting 2.4 and 5 ghz separately - that took a bit of fumbling around with the xFi app to get that to work. Even with the 2.4 ghz network working properly I could not get this device to connect. Calls to customer care via their live chat walk you through the same steps I did 20 times following the prompts on the setup steps in the app. The ONLY thing they had me do differently was shut off the cellular part of my phone. (The phone and device need to be on the exact same 2.4ghz network.) Simply could not/would not connect. If you have a 5ghz only or a mesh network you will likely have issues as well. Sorry but this one is going back....

This was a waste of my time. I am returning it and buying a different product from a different company.

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete waste of money

I have multiple Arlo cameras around my house and decided to buy this floodlight for my driveway, so that when motion is detected, in addition to a video recording the flood light would go on as an additional security feature. I viewed this as another deterrent for anyone who came up our driveway, plus a nice feature when we come home at night. I'm on my second unit. The first one I noticed the light would only stay on for ~20 seconds. I also noticed that when I turned on alert notifications, they were delayed or sometimes didn't even happen. I walked in front of the camera several times and no notification alert was ever triggered on my phone! I tested the other cameras connected to the same base unit and each of those would send me an alert when I walked in front of them, but absolutely nothing from the floodlight camera! For the light, under the Device settings, there is an option for "Light Settings". When selected, there is an option to select the duration of the light; from 1 min to increments of 5 min up to a max of 20 minutes. No matter what setting is selected the light will only stay on for ~20 seconds! I returned the first unit and received a replacement unit. Sadly, I'm finding the exact same issues exist, giving me clear indication that this Arlo Floodlight Camera is an absolute waste of money and I'm better off putting back up the basic Arlo camera and a separate motion detecting floodlight. I've also noticed SEVERAL complaints about this when I searched on this topic. Save your money, stay clear of this overpriced camera with a 20 second light that won't alert you on any activity!

1.0 out of 5 stars I want to like it, but poor support and connection problems are frustrating
Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2020

****updated Nov 1, 2020**** Poor support.
I submitted a request for support through the Arlo app TWO WEEKS AGO and have not received a response. Unacceptable. Lowering to one star and I unfortunately I cannot recommend this item anymore after connection issues despite a very strong wifi network, and non-existent support.
***updated oct 2020*****
When the camera is working, it's 5/5 stars. Clear picture, good notifications. But I've had intermittent connection issues over the first month I've had it. It will inexplicably lose connection from the wifi network for hours or even a day, and then suddenly reconnect, despite having a "strong" wifi connection according to the Arlo app. Annoyingly, I don't get a notification when it has disconnected. When I stand next to the device I get 400-500mbps on my phone (gigabit internet), so signal strength should not be an issue. Still, the camera will randomly disconnect or at least show as disconnected in the app. I've also noticed that it will occassionally miss obvious motion events (like my car pulling into the driveway and me bringing groceries in) without ever registering a motion event. I'm assuming this is a time when it has disconnected but since I don't get a disconnect notification I have no idea.
So when the camera works, it's great. But the connection issues are a concern. I was planning on getting more Arlo cameras but I've paused that for now.
******End update
I got this for my driveway since I was in need of both a Floodlight and camera. Installation was very easy and the device connected quickly to my wifi network. I'm happy with the 2k video quality, it's nice and clear. The app is pretty easy to use. The light is very bright although it does seem to take a second or two longer to recognize motion and turn on than a standard floodlight.
One thing I'm always concerned about with these battery cameras is recording delay and notification delay. The recording delay seems to be 2 or 3 seconds from the time the camera detects motion before it will record. From a home security standpoint, that can be important. This can be eliminated if you attach a charging cable (sold separately) to the unit, then it will use what Arlo calls "foresight" and automatically record the 3 seconds before the camera detects motion. After playing around with this camera, I think it will be necessary for me to get the cable since I don't want to miss anything. I've had a few hiccups with getting timely notifications on my phone. A few times there was a 10 minute delay, but most other occasions I've gotten notifications in 4 or 5 seconds.
Also, the battery has gone down about 25% in 4 days of use. I have been using it a lot since I've been messing with the settings, but at this rate the battery barely lasts 2 weeks. Getting the charging cable will also take care of this issue, so I'm not too worried.
My biggest overall impression of my first Arlo device is that it's a good camera on battery only, but has the potential to be a great camera with attached power (AC or solar, both sold separately), since the power eliminates most of my complaints.
1.0 out of 5 stars I think I wasted a lot of money on these...

So I have 3 x Pro 4 cameras, and 2 x Pro 3 floodlights, along with a sub that is supposed to give me unlimited cams.
The 3 Pro 4 cams seemed to be ok, but I really only had 2 setup. Then months later, I bought 2 of the floodlights. (Nice of them to only include a short micro/mini (whatever it's called) USB charger cable, so if you want to have them hard wired, and weather proof, you are forced to buy charger cables for the floodlights.
So I'm fighting and fighting to get all of these cameras working reliably, with multiple resets. The floodlights require me to go borrow a ladder from the neighbor to get up on the entrance overhang, and these things work long enough to give you the confidence to climb back down. Then later, they'd quit working. (I'm scared of heights by the way, and at 50, the idea of falling off a ladder is very frightening)
Eventually I ordered a dang near $400 Orbi Mesh system to make absolutely certain that it wasn't a wifi problem. I was still having issues over multiple days.(during initial setup, all cameras showed STRONG connection, so they should be good, right?) So I have a total of 3 cameras on the Orbi Mesh and 2 cameras on my original wifi, and nothing else on my wifi networks. (I also have the 5 Ghz portion turned off in both of my wifi routers, to assure I'm on 2.4 during setup)
Yesterday I finally got all 5 working once I figured something out. I noticed an icon in the app that told me the floodlights were not using a factory charging cable, (Wasserstein cable) so I unplugged the cables on the floodlights to try and see if the cameras were angry about it. Viola, everything seems to be working as intended!!!! YAY! No more climbing up on the roof!!!!
The rest of the day, I'm testing, and getting videos in my library from all 5 cameras, I'm so bloody happy that I finally figured it out. I just need to buy those super affordable (sarcasm) $49 Arlo cables for the floodlights, when they become available...
Then I woke up to the screenshot above.
Both WIFI networks are working fine. I tried connecting to both with my phone, and watched YouTube videos. I even reset the Orbi wifi for good measure. Still nada.... the whole system is broke, and I'm so frustrated, I want to cram them in someone's cramhole.
Also of note.
At night, I have to be within 25 ft of the cams to trigger them, even when set at 100% sensitivity. It won't even trigger if someone is in the slightly darker hallway of the lower level.
The CCD in these cams are worse than the one on my cheap phone from back in 2010. What good is 2k video, when you're putting $1.99 image sensors in them? (Yes, videos are set to quality)
In a nutshell, potential owners, consider looking elsewhere. The listed stats make them seem good, but the reality is that they are overpriced, pains in the bum.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Connectivity With Technical Support or Wi-Fi
Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2021
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
I purchased this floodlight camera with the intent of adding security to the rear of our home. So far, I have spent 7+ hours on the phone or chatting with 5 different Arlo technical support personnel not counting the 2 hours I spent attempting to connect the floodlight to our Linksys EA7500 MIMO router. After spending 3+ hours on the phone today with Arlo support, the last technician advised me, not once but three times, to contact our internet provider and verify our 2.4 GHz password because the password I am using is not correct. I tried to explain to him that the internet terminates on a modem and an ethernet cable connects the modem to our router so our internet provider cannot help us with our password. I have asked each one of these "technicians" why I can connect a Nest doorbell and Lutron Caseta wireless lights (among many other items) to this Wi-Fi network without issues and having to modify our system settings but that statement is ignored. I asked the young man, who I could barely understand, "Don't you think it is time to replace the floodlight/camera to which he replied, "I will call you in the morning at 9:00 AM Eastern time. I surely hope he comes to his senses and replaces the unit in the morning! I will revise this review if we ever get the floodlight to connect to Wi-Fi.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extreme lag time, Everything cost additional money, the app freezes up frequently.
Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2021
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
The cameras have a 5 to 10 second lag time programed into their Arlo App. This is intentional on Arlo's part qw other wireless systems do not have this problem. The lag time problem seems to be universal with all Arlo products. When a camera senses motion it sends alert to the app, the app processes it and sends back to the camera to start recording. By the time the cameras start recording what ever was the focus of the alert is either gone or half gone so you only get a picture of it leaving the field of view. This is so that you will buy the CVR feature on the app at an additional $20 per camera per month. Also if you add your own Arlo Smart Hub with memory you can not play back the recordings on that memory through the app, and the Smart Hub can not tell the difference between different types of motion, Human, vehicle, animal etc, all motion is the same with a Smart Hub. The Smart Hub will not record continuously, So what good is a Smart Hub? Arlo has excellent quality cameras but they know it and are very proprietary to make you spend more and more money to get those cameras to do what you bought them to do. The App is very unstable, cameras go offline frequently and often you have to take a ladder out and remove cameras and reinstall them to reactivate them.

Before posting a terrible review for this product, I have been showing great restraint while I work with Arlo on the miserable performance of this floodlight camera. I have Arlo Pro2s, ArloPro3s in several places on my property. If you look at the image attached, you'll see that the cameras recording at the same time are clear, but the Floodlight camera is all fogged over due to condensation. So, there is no fog, as it appears in the floodlight camera view. The worst part might be their support... they have done everything from suggest I move it inside (its a floodlight, folks..) to pitching it down so that moisture can drip off of it. They continuously provide irrelevant advice. They told me to move it, I need it right where it is. They told me to attach a hood of some sort to keep the moisture off. Yeah, that would look great! I know, how about you just make a product that works? It is beyond ridiculous. Three months into reporting it, they have stopped communicating with me and when they have in the past, its the same questions (how fast is your download/upload speed, what is your shipping address?.... how does this resolve my issue???). Oh and the subscription deception is real. They sort of forget to tell you about that when you buy it. Spare yourself the misery of investing in this fancy piece of junk.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOTE: You Can't Record & have Floodlight on at the same time!
Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2020
Color: WhiteVerified Purchase
Apparently if you want to have the floodlight go on when motion is detected AND also have it record for more than about 7 seconds its a "no can do". If you want recording while the light is activated you are limited to only a few seconds of a lighted driveway or where ever. The quote below is a direct cut and paste fron their manual:
"If a rule turns on the floodlight and records, the light stays on for the same duration as the
recording—you can’t enter a different duration for the light the way you can set the manual
duration in Light Settings. If the rule doesn’t record, then you can specify the light duration for
the rule."
I kept trying to adjust the light to stay on for at least 5 minutes when my wife came home from work at night but the unit just would not take it. yuo would think a floodlight would provide some type of safety net right? Yes, but only 7 seconds worth. About as long as the camera records, then its puff, total darkness. I I tried contacting Arlo many times....... CRICKETS. Their automated online chat always has a 7-10 person wait and there is no way to get a live person. Any emails literally go unanswered. I am probably going to end up returning this expensive 7 second light before that window closes in a few weeks. Yes, you can have the light stay on for many minutes when activated, but don't even think of trying to have the camera record anything during that time. Doesn't defeat the purpose of purchasing the unit in the first place?? Arlo/Netgear...hello! Is anybody home??

1.0 out of 5 stars Powerful lights but poor and slow motion detection

Today June 27, 2021, Updated my review and lowered it from 3 to 1 star rating for the poor tech support with no resolution in sight!
They have asked for a series of questions, half of them were already laid out on previous calls. I don't believe a typical consumer would like to respond to 15+ follow-up questions.
If I can, I'll be returning the unit for a full refund!
Originally Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2021
+ The unit looks really good externally!
+ Camera resolution is very good
- Mount hardware is not as rugged and secure.
- Delayed or missed notification; probably due to issues with handling motion detection
- Motion detection issue!!
On April 21, 2021 I had opened a case with Arlo to try and optimize;
Her a few of the steps they had me try and tweak to trigger/receive motion alerts:
>> Camera position
>> Motion detection test
>> Activity Zones
>> Video mode*: tried adjusting the field of view 160/125/110 in relation to activity zone
>> Camera has been mounted at the height of ~9 1/2 feet - within spec I believe.
- FLOOD LIGHT SETTINGS; though mine is set for a "Durtation of 5 min", it does not stays on for 5 mins at all.
I would not like returning in the hope that they make improvements to this system - maybe in their next firmware upgrade?
BTW my WiFi coverage and bandwidth has been pretty good and reliable; with 150Mbps+ Download and 40Mbps+ Upload speed near the device. I have Comcast in my area and, I am using AmpliFi HD Mesh Router and MeshPoint system in and around the house.
Today June 7, 2021, I have reached out to Amazon & Arlo Tech Support again for further troubleshooting to resolve the issue.

First, I would like to warn everyone the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight is a piece of trash. Save your money and buy a better quality product. Initially I was introduced to Arlo when the alarm company I use gave me a free camera for signing a contract. That camera works fine. Pleased with the results, I bought the doorbell. Again, a good product. I was really looking forward to the production of the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight and bought 2 of them. They both worked fine at first but then suddenly the motion detector stopped working on both. Uninstalled the cameras and reinstalled to no avail. Weird thing is I can manually turn on the lights using their app. Also, don’t waste your money on the solar battery assistant. Another waste of money. They do not fully charge the battery. I am 67 years old and am not fond of climbing up and down the ladder to bring the camera in the house to charge the batteries. So, I have thrown away over $500 on Arlo products. Customer support was no help.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work after just one year ....

This camera worked great for several months - had it hooked up to an Arlo Solar Panel and never had to charge the battery. After about 6 months, the battery started draining really fast. I have it mounted high on the rafters, so I have to climb a 10 foot ladder to take the camera down and charge the battery every couple weeks. I bought a new $79 battery, thinking the old battery (less than one year) was bad. The brand new battery doesn't make a difference. I've been around in circles with Arlo Customer Service and they will not replace this camera because it's gone beyond the warranty. I started complaining to them about a week past the warranty. Today was the final straw ... they offered me 30% off of a new camera. Seriously? They expect me to spend any money on their products after this? No way, I'm replacing this camera with a ring. Arlo products and customer service are not worth the money or the hassle.

Updated, These people CANNOT give a simple answer to issues. The camera stops while recording and I ask how to make it record longer, They say sorry your camera is not recording, our service log shows it is recording. Nothing about length. The light will not stay on over 15 seconds with it set for 1, 5, 10 or 20 minutes. They have NEVER answered on this issue. I can only fill an update on their sire so I have no records of what I have told them. I get 2 emails each time asking me to update or they will close case. EVERY TIME the answers don't address what I say. I don't know if they don't speak English or are just idiots. The camera does not work as it is supposed to and I can't get help so I assume it will be going back before return expires as they don't even try to help. They have sent several links to self diagnose but none are for my camera as they refer to menus I don't have. TOTALLY frustrating poor service! What a waste of a good idea!
This camera works great except that you can't adjust how long it records after motion detection or how far. seems like motion has to be very close to start recording and stops while people and vehicles are still moving only a short distance away. deliveries kick on when vehicle is close to camera but stop before driver gets to door? no video is NOT what I need. even if I could set to record X amount of minutes after detection.

When it works, it works well. But when it is down for the count like it is now, then don't depend on the Arlo community or the chat with us feature for help. First the arlo community is not helpful so no need to explore here. As for the Chat feature, unless you are paying for service or using the trial, they won't engage you...however, in our case, we are under the trial period evaluating its worthiness...and will have to say, after encountering major motion detection and sound issues, our two attempts of waiting in the chat queue were each rudely cut short when the support rep dropped us both times.....wow.......!!!!
If you plan on setting up this camera in a busy neighborhood, forget getting this. Like every wirefree option out there, the Arlo will only give you 1 full day of a charge. If you are thinking, like we foolishly thought before, of using the solar panel from Arlo or Wasserstein, please save yourself the pain and do not buy it....the firmware in the arlo system will not trickle charge to maintain the battery....it will cut off power rendering your camera only solar panel powered...thus your battery will drain.
