You will see when you get the box it's very very well thought out. They even have Stickers to aid in pre drilling holes. Directions are clear and gets to the point. The camera is a beast. Picks up my router with ZERO issues and connectivity is excellent. Mounts are well made with easy adjustments.

After having a few other security cameras with just constant issues it's awesome to finally find a brand that CHECKS OFF everything you'd want from a wireless security camera with a solar charging panel.

UPDATE
The seller has contacted me and will be sending a different camera. Dekco customer service is great!!! It is nice to see they stand behind their products! Five stars because of this

The camera has been up and running for about a week. I have moved it to different areas of the property to see how well it works. Thats the great advantage of the solar panel!
You need to purchase an sd card, and as others have stated, inserting it can be tricky. I never got mine to go in correctly and the camera never recognized it
The picture quality has been pretty good in most areas. The view when you open the app shows a large area, which is nice. However the actual detection is quite minimal which I guess is pretty standard. You have to be in very close proximity to the camera for it to activate and send you a notification. It appears to work better during the day. The night vision and detection are lacking. It misses usual movement frequently. This was something that was important to me and my needs. Having said that, this particular camera does not promote great night time visibility. In researching their cameras, I see that there may be better alternatives for night time vision and I would not hesitate to purchase one.

I attached the solar security camera on the top of the garage door, it is easily attached and it’s light. It has two ways of charging, one is from the solar panels and one is from the charging wire. The camera’s footage is clear day and night, it can cover a large ground with a rotation of 170 degrees. I use home-WiFi to connect to the security camera, so I can see everything in the backyard. I really like it.

The customer service from the company is very good as they prioritize their customers, and it's nice to have camera's that are solar so there is no fuss on climbing up and down a ladder to charge the battery, just a 1st time when you first open up the package and get your camera with the included charging cable and the ease of watching my property on my cell phone from the comfort of my bedroom. The set up is incredibly easy and fast. I just bought a 32 GB micro SD card which I feel is enough gig space for the camera.

I then got a email from the Decko company and I explained to them my situation again..which I did not mind doing..and they sent me a replacment part !!! I wish that Amazon would have a button to contact the manufacturer after making the purchase. This would have made things alot easier...

The image itself is good, and the night vision is good. Install is quick and easy. The solar panels work well, tho I do wish the cable was independent so you could better install the length you needed. The placement of the charging port (bottom) is a bit in the way, and I can certainly think of a few design improvements. However all in all they work well. They do include an SD/HD toggle and record times on the app which while spartan works well.

I wanted a camera near our gate that would allow for live viewing, and work without AC power available. I looked through several listing before settling on this unit. The camera clarity is great, and so far the battery seems to be holding up well over night. I have this camera mounted 2,500 feet away from the house, over looking the entrance to our property. I used a directional wifi antenna off of our router to boost the signal all the way to the gate. There is very little latency in the connection. I would recommend! So excited to have added security over our cellular game camera. I will update this review should any major failures occcur!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cameras themselves are really good. But the app needs work

Like the title says, the cameras are good, good picture quality, night vision works well, it connects to WiFi from a sizable distance. Only bad thing is the bugs with the app, and the bugs seem to be worse on android vs iPhone. Sometimes I’ll get an alert on my phone but the other person that has access to the cameras won’t. Sometimes she’ll get an alert and she’ll click on it and it won’t display the picture/video in her app. Whenever I click on an alert and go to watch the video it defaults to the first alert I received that day twice before it’ll show me the most recent video.

Update: their customer service reached out to me, was helpful, and said they’re sending the bug reports to the tech team, so I added a star

4.0 out of 5 stars Good fixed position solar camera
Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2022
Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
Recently, I decided to try some different models of home wifi cameras to try and find what I found to be suitable and well performing for at home use. I tried some different styles - solar, wired, adjustable view, fixed position etc.

This is the 4th and final one I test - another solar powered wifi camera, but this time a fixed position view camera. This one most resembles a traditional security camera, with a simple white color scheme and boxy body style.

Of course, you also have the dual antennas for wifi connectivity and a small, adjustable position solar panel that connects via USB. The set up and installation of these cameras are largely the same - this was no different, really. You start by charging the camera itself to ensure the internal battery is topped off and ready to enjoy a steady diet of solar energy. Both the camera and panel have a round base with mounting holes and included screws and anchors. Everything is adjustable so can position it virtually any way you see fit.

All 4 of the cameras I've recently tested use the very capable Cloud Edge app, so this was a very familiar and easy set up at this point - you add the camera in the app, connect it to your wifi (5G not supported with any of these, btw) scan a QR code and its connected and ready to go.

The interface with this camera on the app is mostly the same, although with this model you have a dedicated view icon that shows if you or a shared device is viewing the feed. There's also a dedicated siren button, in case you want to impress your neighbors at 3 AM.

The biggest difference with this model versus the others I've tried is this is a fixed position camera, so there is no option to pan or tilt. You can still digitally zoom, however. This may or may not be a dealbreaker for some, but both styles have their pros and cons. Pan/tilt style cameras generally need a little more room for installation, whereas this camera is a bit more compact and can be hidden a bit better if you want a more stealthy location.

In this case, I carved out a small notch from the inside of my white wooden fence and installed this camera so it would be flush with the outside, pointing at the road. Sure, it's not entirely hidden but glancing from afar it just looks like a small missing fence panel.

Despite the fixed location, it still manages to perform pretty well. Connectivity and frame rate are great and it holds a steady signal despite a bit of distance from my router. This one actually seems to be quite good in that regard. The video feed even in HD mode pulls up quickly and plays smoothly.

Image quality is fairly sharp with a nice resolution and color display. There's a small amount of artifacts and pixelation at a distance at times, but for the most part your close up field of view is clear.

The infrared night vision is basically the same on all the cameras I've tested, this one, like the others, is acceptable and you can easily see objects in the dark, given they are within the cameras working range.

Notifications work fine on this as well, although I do seem to get fewer false alarms it seems like. I'm not entirely sure its simply better at distinguishing motion or I just have it positioned just right. Regardless, it works as it should...
In fact as I'm writing this I just got an alert that turned out to be a stray cat strolling past the camera.

Overall, this is a good choice for a fixed position camera if you just want to monitor one area. Image quality and motion detection are all good for the price point!

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 Stars due to clunky user interface and lacking easy to find instructions.

Review of: Security Cameras Wireless Outdoor - DEKCO Solar Security Camera for Home Security, 1080p HD, Two-Way Audio, Smart Human Detection, Simple Setup, Night Vision WiFi Camera Outdoor @ $59.99 at time of review and order (marked down from $99.99 at that time).

I have mostly another brand of cameras outside but wanted to add this since it has a panning function as well as a voice function to talk to a person through it. I placed this at the front door of my home. I first mounted this on a single piece of wood attached to my guttering, so I didn't have to drill into my siding/house. I did not care for the sideways view (pictured) and there's no way to flip the view 1/4 turn; you can only flip it 180 degrees. So, I remounted the camera on an attached horizontally mounted piece of wood and left the solar panel as it was. In hindsight (and I still might), I should have tilted the horizontally mounted piece of wood so that the camera was tilted down just slightly more (this is addressed in my dislikes below). Both views of my first mounting and it's respective image, and the final mounting and image are pictured with this review. I gave this 3.5 stars but rounded up to the 4 stars due to what I felt is a clunky and not user friendly interface plus no included instructions that one can pull out of the box and get much detail at all. A few minimum instructions are included. If you are tech savvy, you will probably be okay and will find your way around the user interface, which is accessed via the app you must download. I did have one question and contacted the help desk via the app and they were quick to respond with the correct answer for me. So, a plus to them for that. I encourage using the provided USB power supply to charge the camera fully before mounting it and then using the solar panel to maintain the charge. Elsewise, you will find that the solar panel might not charge it fully for quite some time. Plan on having to format the SD card, too. This is done within the app and otherwise it will not detect it.

Likes:
It does have a pan feature, but does NOT have a tilt feature.
It appears durable enough and weather resistant so far (we've had a lot of rain).
The live and recorded images are satisfactory and that includes night vision.
On the bottom of the camera is where the power supply plugs in and the micro SD card is inserted. This seems to be well covered/sealed with a silicone/rubber flap. Within that flap is a smaller piece that is removed to allow the power supply cord and it makes for a nice tight seal (pictured with arrow). I found that one has to be looking right into the slot to get the power cord to fit the correct way and you must push it into place firmly.
Stickers are provided and those include templates for mounting the solar panel and camera bases as well as a notice of video surveillance sticker for your door/window. I opted not to use the notice of surveillance because I don't intend to give would be trespassers/criminals any warning.
The option to use the SD card as opposed to paying for cloud storage is nice. You can still email captured and saved images and videos to your phone email or home computer for storage there too.
Plenty of cable is provided for mounting your solar panel away from your camera (I did not measure it, but I am estimating 6 to 9 feet of power cable). Make sure you account for panning of the camera when leaving cable distances between solar panel and camera. It does not pan all that much anyway.
I like having the ability to set the sensitivity on your motion sensor and it is supposed to only detect humans, but mine has been detecting passing vehicles and not in any consistent basis (noise and motion are about the same as is distance; just no discernable pattern of detection and alerts).
Having the ability to hear what is going on as well as talking to someone (like a delivery person) is nice - see dislikes too.
It's wireless in that there is no having to plug this into a wall outlet or run wires to power.
The signal is good, and the camera seems to have sufficient antenna strength. Mine is mounted about thirty feet from my main router and I have a mesh Wi-Fi system for my home.

Dislikes:
I found the microphone to not sound very clear from my end when using it to talk to someone outside. To use it, one must be on the camera's home screen and press and hold the microphone icon. The outside noises I picked up/received were better.
The user interface is not the most user friendly, especially for someone not very tech savvy.
I charged the camera first using the USB power cord and red lights came on to begin with and were visible within the charging port area after raising the rubber flap to also insert the SD card. Later, after downloading the CloudEdge app so I could begin the setup process, part of it was to press the reset button until the red light blinks. Nothing is said to look on the camera's face/screen and I was assuming that it was the same red light that I saw when charging the device. Audible noises from the camera were the only thing that alerted me to look elsewhere for the blinking light and continue the setup. I did not like having to find that out on my own.
It took a couple of resets of the camera and then the QR Code comes up that you must use the camera to scan for this to finally connect correctly to my Wi-Fi and the app. The reset and power buttons are inside the flap on the bottom and are not easily pressed with a finger, so I had to get a stylus to do it.
There is no tilt function, but it does pan somewhat. For the price point, it's acceptable, but the base does not allow for much of a tilt downwards. This makes mounting the camera high enough that someone cannot mess with it or steal it more difficult to have a good downward view since the base is limited on how far one can manually tilt the camera down.

One downside might be that squirrels and birds might try to sit and climb on this system more than some given the size difference between this and some other outside cameras. Plus, I have not discovered how much problems might be caused by birds pooping on the solar panel or even the camera. Just something to consider and I will update this or anything that I find relevant and that might help.

I hope this helps someone decide on whether or not they choose to purchase this outdoor video camera.

4.0 out of 5 stars Effective Wireless / Solar Powered Security Camera
Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2022
Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
The Dekco wireless security camera was ordered for use on the exterior of our home near our porch.

This security camera is a really good means of helping protect our home. We have good sun exposure to our home, so having this solar powered unit is a welcome addition to the security of our home. Before installing I charged the camera battery, and then let the solar unit be exposed to the sun all day, and thus it was fully powered when installed.

The actual installation of the solar cell and camera was easy. I was somewhat concerned since we have some vinyl siding where it is hung, but there were no issues with the length of any of the installation hardware. It took about 15 - 20 minutes to install the camera and solar panel including bringing the ladder around from the garage, getting tools, etc....

The camera triggers recording when it senses movement of humans but not smaller animals. I have not had it trigger any deer as yet, but that will happen based upon where we live. It also records in multi-second bursts of about 10 seconds.

The camera & solar panel seem to be well made and sturdy. And in addition it has an IP65 weatherproof rating (IP65 = "dust tight" and protected against water projected from a nozzle). This should be sufficient to protect the inner workings of the camera, solar panel, and internal hardware/software.

There unit does not come with an 128 GB SD card, and thus you will need to purchase one in order to record on the camera. This not a negative, but just an a fact to consider.

BOTTOM LINE: I like the quality and features of this security camera & solar panel. It was easy to install, works nicely, and so far alerts us where it detects movement. I would order again.

Has been fixed high where it can scan the rear garden for intruders. It looks pretty robust, and the solar panel keeps the battery fully charged. The CloudEdge app that it uses is common to other devices and is rightly regarded as good. At the moment this has not yet been linked in to my mobile phones and simply goes to a self contained tablet [ where it performs robustly on test] , so I am not able to report how it might perform in anger [ hence a cautious 4* rating], but I see no reason why it should be any different from another make that guards the front of the house, and which is undoubtably pretty hot. I didn't realise that the app worked everywhere there is wi-fi until one day it pinged in the local Sainsbury 5 miles away to tell me that my daughter was on the front doorstep, and I was then able to instruct over the voice link where where the key was secured. This particular make DEKCO keeps telling me that the wifi where it is has low signal strength [ about 50%], but seems to work well nevertheless.

The app works, motion detection and how it saves images. Also no wires and solar powered is great, it mounts on the shed fine. Buy an sd card as well so it's got one installed in it.
Night vision is OK as well. I used the solar panel mount for the camera as it seemed a bit firmer, but doesn't make any difference really, and you caiuls just charge it from usb/powerbank every month if you don't want to mount the panel.

Overall for the money it's very good so far.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to connect, very versatile, seems to be working well
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 13, 2022
I still haven't managed to get round to installing this on the outside wall of our house, but have been testing it indoors connected to a USB power source.

It was surprisingly easy to get up and running, just download the app, create a password, add your wifi password and let the app know you have a camera to add. It warns you to hit the reset button on the camera, which once that's done connects in a few seconds. Job done.

The app is simple to use and easy to navigate. When selecting the camera image it appears in about 5 seconds. The motion sensor seems to be appropriately sensitive, moving around the room fires off a message to my phone (and connected watch) to say it's detected movement. As I'm yet to test it outside I can't tell how well this will work if stuff is blowing around the garden for example, but there are ten levels of sensitivity so it should be possible to find an optimum value without too much trouble.

The solar panel is fairly compact and fits into the base of the camera via a small removeable rubber plug. I might consider a little sealant just to ensure that there's no water ingress when I install it outside.

Both wall mounts include their own templates for drilling holes for mounting. I don't really understand why everything designed to be wall mounted doesn't include these as they are so useful and such a simple and cheap to make, but valuable add on.

Image quality is good and provides plenty of detail, and the field of view wide enough to cover most of the garden from my mounting point when it goes up.

This is quite an impressive camera, being able to mount it without any cables running from inside makes it really versatile. To get the best from it I would suggest it probably needs to be mounted with the solar panel on a south facing wall, though the cable length means it could be mounted around the corner from the camera if the house and garden were appropriately aligned.

At £70 this is a bit more expensive than other similar models that take power from the mains, but I think the versatility of it being completed cable free is worth the extra cost.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wireless solar security camera, 1080p HD,
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 1, 2022
So the description states this is a:-
Security camera outdoor. Wireless solar security camera, 1080p HD, smart human detection. Simple setup, night vision CCTV camera outdoor.

You need to fully charge this camera first useing the USB supplied, but does not come with a plug.
You have do this first charge from the main and when the camera is fully charged, it can then charged via solar panel and works with 2.4GHz WiFi does NOT support 5GHz WiFi. Which is OK for us because 5g isn't working here yet anyways.
7-Day Free Cloud Storage Included, you can then decide if you want to have a cloud subscription or just use the sd card for memory storage.

The camera has a rotatable base, that can swivel 180° horizontally.

I needed the camera set up but I needed it to be rechargeable or solar panel because there was no other power source near.
Its fitted in perfectly, its not continuously recording, it records and notifying me via motion detection.
It also has 2 way audio, firstly use to scare the family members when they didn't know I had the camera set up lol

''CloudEdge'' is the app you need to down load, then your able to sort what settings you need and personalise it to suit you.

I already have a very similar solar cam set up at the front of the house, I've placed this out back. Not just for security but I'm also able to keep an eye on my oap parents when I'm not at home. I can tune in and check on them when needed.

But otherwise so far so good
I will update this review if needed.

4.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT - simple to install, solar power, and great night vision
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 29, 2022
This Solar charged, battery powered wireless security camera is just incredible value at £59.99 (at the time of review). Although this is only 2.4Ghz and NO 5Ghz support, I would think that is done by design - as 2.4Ghz maybe relatively slower that 5Ghz, 2.4Ghz is far more reliable and has greater range than 5Ghz.

Well packaged and comes with all you need to physically install both camera and solar panel - including drill hole templates for the 2 base plates.

At first I wondered how the ballheads were going to be tighten to stop the camera and solar panel drooping - the simple design of the base units just uses the screw clamp to pull the and tighten the ball head... and it does a pretty good job of keeping the solar panel and camera in position.

The only minor issue I see with the physical build/design, is that when the solar panel is physically connected to the camera using the micro USB cable, obviously the cable will stick out, but the cover cannot be closed around the cable. This means the SD card slot is left exposed and moisture could seep in.

The App is easy to install and connect to the camera, and the features available are great:
2 way Intercom
Screenshot
Record
Siren (which is LOUD)
Motion detection - including setting a specific Area in the frame that will trigger motion detection and leave the rest of area ignored for motion detection.

NIGHT VISION is automatic - as it gets dark, it will automatically change from colour, to greyscale night vison... which I have to say is absolutely brilliant.

This is such great value - a definite and easy 5 ????? for me (if the rating were out of 10, then I would rate it 10)

4.0 out of 5 stars No more recharging
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 22, 2022
There are five battery powered cameras installed in my house from different brands and couple of themes are from big brand bit there is alway a hassle to recharge them but this one is brilliant because it comes with a solar panel and it charge itself. There are 2 wifi receiver antennas and it works perfectly from distance where others usually start breaking up with router.
No monthly subscription fee as you can use a memory card to record and store videos. Only this which is little concerning is the location of memory card slot which is at the bottom of the camera and is easily accessible if camera is in human range.
Easy to setup as like others, motion sensor and night vision is working fine. Solar panel comes with a decent size cable so you can put that easily in a sunny place. IP65 waterproof certification so can go easily outdoor. One thing to remember when installing solar panel is that you keep that in a well lit and mostly sunny area to keep that running. In winters it might effect the performance of the battery because of lack sun light.
Overall a good camera with solar panel power supply and records on memory card. At the time of review this product was available for £69.99.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's alright for the price, and the solar panel is nice to have.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
I have paid more for better cameras, and I have paid less for cameras that works as well as this one does.....but not with a solar panel included in the price !

What I like:
1. It was pretty easy to set up.
2. It was easy to integrate with Google Home.
3. It was easy to mount and attach the solar panel.
4. Solar panel is doing what it is supposed to - maintain and extend the battery life, but mine is mounted in a sunny, low activity area. (do charge the battery to 100% before you use it for best results)
5. It has good wi-fi range.
6. Remote access is easy and painless.
7. Motion detection is as good as any I have used.
8. Image quality is great on HD setting.

What needs improvement:
1. The app is not as comprehensive and user friendly as Arlo or Wyze.
2. It is slow to load the video image. It is not a wi-fi issue, as I have it setup right next to my router, it is just slow to load.
3. Trouble formatting the SD card with the app. I ultimately formatted the SD card to fat32 using a computer, then it worked just fine.
4. The battery is internal, not able to be removed and recharged like some others. It is charged with USB, so if your solar panel isn't keeping the battery charged, you'd have find a way to charge the camera in place, or remove it from its location to charge it.

Bottom line: I have a feeling the app and connectivity will continue to improve as the product matures, and for the price - which included the solar panel - I think it is a good purchase. If you are not in a sun-drenched part of the world, and the camera is recording lots of activity, the solar panel will not be enough to keep the battery at 100% and you'll looking at what I mentioned in #4 above.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Well Built, But Average Quality 1080p Security Camera, With Issues.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 21, 2022
This Dekco security camera arrives well packed in a very nice, professional looking Dekco branded box. In the box is the camera itself, solar panel (with USB cable attached), USB charging cable, 2 x wall mounting brackets, 2 x packs of screws and wall plugs, mounting templates, security sticker, and a Quick Start Guide.

The camera is made from strong plastic and feels quite sturdy. It measures 10.6cm long by 10.3cm wide (including the antennas) and is 5cm thick (12cm with the antennas pointing up).

On the front panel is the lens, daylight sensor, status indicator, PIR motion sensor, Infrared LED and microphone. On the base is a speaker behind a grill, and hidden behind a silicon cover is the microSD card slot, microUSB charging port, power button and reset button. The silicon cover has a central removable section, that allows you to push the USB connector (from the solar panel) through it, to allow the camera to receive power whilst still remaining as waterproof as possible, which was a nice touch. On the rear of the camera is a single metal 1/4” metal socket for attaching it to the mounting bracket.

The frame for the solar panel is plastic. It measures 17.4cm by 12.1cm wide and about 7mm thick. It has a single 1/4” metal socket in the rear for attaching it to the mounting bracket, as well as a 2.8m long USB cable with a microUSB connector on the end, for plugging into the camera.

The USB charging cable is 94cm long and has a USB Type-A connector at one end and a microUSB connector at the other. No USB power adaptor is included so you will need to provide your own USB DC 5V/1A power source to charge the battery (if not using the solar panel).

The two wall brackets are made from plastic, with a ball head style joint. The base of the bracket for the camera has a diameter of 6.7cm and is mounted to the wall with four screws (included). And the base of the bracket for the solar panel has a diameter of 7cm and is mounted to the wall using three screws (included). Both brackets come with templates to help drill the screw holes in exactly the right place.

The solar panel worked well. After fully charging the camera before putting it outside, the solar panel has managed to maintain its charge. However it should be noted I’ve been having a run of good weather and the panel is located where it gets the sun on it through the whole day. I am not sure how well it will perform in the winter or in a more suboptimal location.

The quick Start Guide is well written and has some clear diagrams, however it only concerns itself with where to position the camera and how to download the App.

In order to use the camera you have no choice but to download the CloudEdge app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. You can not access the camera from a Windows PC, nor via RTSP. And in order to use the App, you have to set up an account with them and give them an e-mail address.

Once the App was installed, setting up the camera was fairly straightforward and similar to other cameras. The camera can only use 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks, which is disappointing given the increased prevalence of 5GHz home networks.

The camera uses a 1080P (1920 x 1080) resolution camera, and the lens is said to have a field of view of 130°. Image quality is average to slightly above average (depending on the light level) for this resolution sensor. Frame rate is just 15fps though, and whilst the image quality is good, the image does get a bit smeary wherever there is movement. Night vision wasn’t as good. When the image was static, the images quality was about average but anything moving in the scene was indistinct and distorted unless within a couple metres of the camera.

The video files can be recorded either to a microSD card (up to 128GB); to an optional CloudEdge subscription service, or direct to your phone/tablet if you are recording live. Video files are recorded at 15fps, in H264 mp4 format.

The CloudEdge App itself is “OK”, but not great. Tablet integration is substandard due to using the phone interface, instead of a dedicated tablet interface. As a result the interface only uses a quarter of the screen. You can enlarge the actual video image to full screen, but this takes a couple button presses rather than being automatic.

The App’s main page allows you to view the live video feed, record live video, take screenshots, or use your devices microphone to broadcast through the cameras speaker. (the speaker on the camera worked well and was nice and clear). You can also see a history of any events that were recorded on the SD card, or to the Cloud, and quickly and easily scroll through them and play the one you want.

Delving into the settings and there are several useful features here, including the ability to:
- Set the detection level sensitivity and switch on humanoid detection
- Change the length of time you wish the camera to record when it detects movement (10, 20 or 30 seconds)
- Set a schedule for when you want to receive notifications.
- Limit motion detection to a specific area of the image.

The cameras AI and motion detection worked reasonably well. The human detection mode did cut down on false positives, but not completely stop them. The notification system was good, with notifications usually received within 3 or 4 seconds of the trigger event. Clicking on the notification takes you to a message in the App which has a screen shot of the event and the time and date it happened, as well as the option to watch the video clip of the event.

Frustratingly there is no option to record the video 24/7. This means that you are reliant on the AI getting things right, and have no ability to watch the scene moments before an event finally triggers the camera. As the AI can miss events at times, or take a while before being triggered, this does mean that you are not guaranteed to capture 100% of all movement/events.

Another frustration is that the connecting to the camera was quite slow at times. More often than not it takes 10+ seconds to connect to the camera and quite often it takes 20+ seconds, despite having a strong signal.

In order to record video footage or take screen shots to your phone or tablet, the App insists on accessing all your photos. It will not work if you only give it permission to use a specific folder that you have set up for it to use.

A further big negative is that that there is no way to download the video files from the SD card remotely. You either have to manually remove the microSD card and copy them to your computer, which might not be possible if your camera is located in a difficult to reach spot. Or you have to use the App to play back the recorded files, and use the app itself to record these to your device in real time. Before finally transferring the resulting file to your computer. This makes this camera not really suitable for anyone wanting to archive or regularly edit the footage.

In conclusion, this camera is a mixed bag. Build wise, both the camera and solar panel are quite well put together given the price. Image wise the camera performs about average for this price bracket, although a little sub par for night vision. The 1080p resolution sensor is also looking a bit dated now, given there are now 4k sensors to be found in other similarly priced cameras. And the app itself and the features it offers are again only average. Whilst it does have some useful features, they are the bare minimum of features I would expect such an App to have.

Security/privacy wise there are concerns with having to give out your e-mail address, and run a third party app on your device. All you camera data goes through third party servers that you have no control over and there is no way to setup, view or use the camera independently of this. The fact that it insists on accessing all your photos is also a privacy worry. How much this is a problem will depend very much on how secure you need your footage to be and how much you value your privacy.

So whilst this is an “OK” camera, there is nothing that makes it stand out, especially given how saturated the low end CCTV market has now become. Not only is it hard to find anything to recommend it over all those other average cameras out there, but the negatives it does have, stand out more as a result when compared to some of the competition.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another web based camera...
Reviewed in Canada on March 30, 2022
Received for unbiased review...

(My rant will be first, if you want to skip down to the build quality and design)
In this day in age of identity theft and hacks it is concerning that products like this are on the market. This outdoor security camera can not be activated without the company's android app (which is not unusual) but that is not the concerning part. You must create a user account with their company that includes your e-mail address (possibly other personal info, but I refuse to go any further in the sign up). This means that in order to access the camera you must be connected to an internet service so that your account can be reached on their server by the app. Therefore this camera can not be set up on an offline security grid. The license agreement says that they can not guarantee the safety of your personal information should there be a data breach to their service (which is rightly stated but is the whole reason why forcing a user to create accounts in order to use your product is a bad idea). Several people have complained about access to the camera being spotty because (if their service is having issues) if their site is unreachable - no login, no access to video. There is also the issue of having security cameras continuously connected to the internet, where if a hacker should get access to it, can monitor when you are coming and going from your home.
Also in the license agreement they are bold enough to say that using someone else's software other than their own to access the camera is "illegal". I highly doubt that would hold up in court.
I will be looking to see if the return date has closed.

As for the build quality...
The build quality is excellent. It feels like a sturdy camera. But the design has some serious flaws. The silicon weather protector must remain open when the camera is connected to the solar panel. This leaves the SD card slot exposed to the elements. It also leaves the on/off and reset buttons exposed. These should have been in different compartments, separate from the power connector, so that the SD card and your data is kept secure (preferably a screw down hatch with a weather gasket).
It is too bad that so much effort has gone into such a sturdy build, but not enough into practical design.
For those of you that don't care about the privacy concerns, it would make a good in-door or sheltered area camera. If you want this with your own information privacy in mind or for exposed out door use, you might want to find something else.
I will be generous and give it 3 out of 5 stars because of the build quality.
