Very easy install and setup. Video quality doesn’t seem to be much better than the cheap wyze cam I replaced with this blink, even after adjusting to “best” quality. Love that it’s wireless and no longer have a 9 foot cable hanging on my wall. App is pretty intuitive. Alexa integration is great. Had an issue with the first cam, customer service was very helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stop comparing these to professional security set ups

I just want to say for all the people that crap on these cameras, these cameras are amazing. They do the job. They are sturdy. They last through snow, wind, rain, and sun. They have amazing low light vision. Clear pictures. And a great setup to last two years on double AAs. And for those who need them to last longer buy the adapter to plug them in. It's stupid how these people come and review these as if they were 5000 dollar security set ups. These are worth it and a great value.

I got the 3-camera kit because I was tired of mice droppings on my kitchen counters. I set the camera schedule up for night only, and moved them around as each night's videos showed where the fleabag was coming from and what it was eating. Turned out to be eating the can of grease! Somehow I never thought mice would like just plain grease, and all other food was out of reach or in solid containers. Never did see where it came from; kept shifting, and the grease trap (ha ha) caught it before the cameras found its lair.
In the video, you can see it running from the living room through the dining room right to the camera and out of sight -- but keep watching for the incredibly fast blue right at the end as it streaks up the stool leg.
I now have the three cameras hanging on hooks overlooking the kitchen counters, so they will alert me if a mouse shows up again, but are also easily moved around to track them back to their entry. This would be a real pain with wired cameras, effortless with the Blink cameras.
But the Blink cameras get their long battery life by not always recording the instant motion starts. I have another video (Amazon allows only one video upload per review) which starts with the mouse dead center on the counter, no clue how it got up there. That's just how Blink rolls, sometimes. Three cameras is nice, allows collecting different points of view, and a lot of the time, one camera will miss the motion altogether. Nevertheless, I got this wee critter on the third night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Capable indoor wifi camera at a reasonable price
Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2020
Configuration: 3 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
The all-new Blink Indoor – wireless, HD security camera appears to be a good product at a reasonable price. I bought a set of three that came with a Sync module. I believe up to 10 devices can be connected wirelessly to the Sync module that communicates using your home wifi. I was able to easily set up the camera using the Blink app on an iPhone. in addition, I was able to link to Alexa using my Amazon Prime account. This helped to view the camera on the Echo View screen using Alexa voice command such as, "Alexa, show Living Room."
I understand that Lithium AA batteries (supplied with the camera) would last for two years. Also, there is a USB-C port to power the camera, although no cable or USB charging block is provided.
The camera comes with a small mountong bracket and screws for wall or ceiling mounting.
15 day trial for storing in the cloud is free and after that the subscription is $3/month per camera or $10/month for all cameras. However, the Sync module has an USB post and a low profile USB thumb drive upto 256 GB may be used to store video clips in MP4 format.
My only complaint is that a detailed User's Manual explaining all these should be included instead of finding at Blink support website.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captures everything, even when you Blink!
Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2020
Configuration: 3 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
We are happy with our blink indoor cameras. It being wireless, light, and battery powered made it easy to install. The motion detection feature allows you to choose sections of the room you want monitored. The night vision is provides good quality captures and we were surprised the battery life is rated for two years. However, please keep in mind that it could change base on how much you use the live view, how often it triggers to record, how long the duration of recording, is set to, and if your wifi signaling is bad.
Note: if you have a large area or areas with lots of obstructions (i.e. cement, brick, steel, and aluminum) walls you may want to have a wifi meshed network to extend you wifi network pass these obstructions. We have the Google Nest Wifi system. Also, the blink camera must connect to the sync module via low frequency radio (LFR). Because of this, the camera must be within distance of the sync module. This is separate from your home wifi network. My suggestion is to get another syn-module if you run into issues where your single sync-module cannot cover all camera areas.

I have found my entire Blink system to fit my needs exactly. I did not desire to pay a monthly monitoring fee but rather wanted to be alerted on my phone if someone/something was in or near my house. I have set up 4 outdoor and 3 indoor cameras. I am using two separate Blink modules because I wanted to schedule and turn on/off separately.
My only complaint is the two second delay before recording. I guess it takes that long for the motion sensor to pick it up. So you do lose a little bit of recording.
I also put a microSD card in my modules so I do not have to pay the monthly Cloud charge. So other than the initial investment, there is no ongoing cost. Which is exactly what I wanted.

The Blink system met all the requirements necessary to monitor our elderly parents . What made the Blink and exceptional choice was that the cameras were not tethered by any power cord and ran on batteries which are expected to last approx. 2 years. The camera system is a quality made product that comes exceptionally packaged in quite a sturdy box very similar to my RIng set us right out of the box. In fact, setting up of the Blink and the three cameras was light years easier that the setting up of my Ring system and went seamless from beginning to end. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED despite some of the pessimistic reviews .........

Have had my 3 camera system up and running for about a month and have been very satisfied with it. Cameras were straight forward to set up and we had everything connected and installed in about an hour (each camera had to run a system update when it first got connected, that was probably the longest part of the setup). Motion sensor does a good job picking up movement. Video and audio quality is very good. Everything/everybody in the videos is clearly identifiable and audio is understandable. I like that the system can be used with either a subscription based cloud service or a large USB drive. I don't like that the videos autodelete after 60 days but that is plenty of time to otherwise save a video you would like for longer term storage.

I have bought 7 wireless outdoor cameras, 2 wireless indoor cameras and one wired indoor cam. I’ve already done a separate review on the outside cameras so here’s one for the indoor ones. First off, compared to a lot of other cameras, these are a little cheaper. But for a cheaper camera you get lots of features such as motion detection, night vision, talk and listen, video and photo options, storage options and of course live video view. There is a bit of a learning curve but not a bad one. I really love the interface that allows you to control all cameras. Resolution of the cams are good but not great. Motion detection is also good but not great and you may need to adjust it several times to get it right. You can arm and disarm cams easily and battery life has been good so far. So overall these are great little cameras that I would recommend.

We use the camera to keep an eye on our Shih Tzu in our RV when we leave her for short periods of time. The unpacking and setup was easy. I had the camera up and running within 15 minutes. One thing to note, is that when you open a live view session, a continue button keeps popping up after roughly 30 seconds. There may be a way around this but I haven’t figured it out yet. The temperature monitor should be on the main screen. It’s in a separate menu section. The temperature should just be an overlay in the upper left or right corner. The overall quality of the two main pieces feels solid. I would buy it again.

Summary:
- Extremely easy to install.
- Programming is far more sophisticated/sensitive than I expected - but once I got the hang of it it was a cinch... and I am not a tech guy.
- Use it 7 hours a night for 380 days and the batteries are still good.
- Adding to it was a cinch.
- Fortunately, I haven't needed to utilize it for anything serious, but it will be a challenge to identify any person or thing from a distance.
For peace of mind alone - Very pleased and highly recommend.

I did have an issue with two of the camera's and it's mounts (when mount was on wall camera wouldn't snap all the way on, took off put mount on and there was room to still screw the mount to the wall. I've gotten other cams and they were pretty good but these really are worth the money. Camera's are mounted inside house and outside. Works through your wifi system, if you have a fast internet service you should have great speed to watch live, mine internet is a little slow ssssooooooo I have a second to two seconds delay. The set up was hassle free and very simple to do. the picture quality is great and I can access my cameras remotely from my phone anytime and anywhere. I love the cloud storage feature on it and the subscription is very affordable. I have owned several other branded security cameras and this system is by far the most cost efficient, feature enriched, headache free and most reliable system I have ever owned. These cameras are designed for the non electronically inclined and the tech savvy individuals in my opinion and can be set up by any age group-they are that simple to operate.

Setting up the new Blink cameras (we got 2 indoor wired cameras and 4 Blink Minis) was straightforward, clear and simple. We could not be happier with them. It is the only easy thing we've done concerning the implications of the new router.

At the beginning I Had some issues which I have pointed out previously, but I was contacted later from the Blink vendor with an excellent solution from their side. I’m very thankful for their service which at first was not the best but after that it was the best service. They contacted me and replaced the damaged camera which I received in no time.
Thanks for the support.
To the customers, feel free to buy, at the end the blink support team will perform as expected and will help you go thru the process in order to comply with your requirements and needs. After using the camera system for a while it has been a real good option and I fully recommend buying it.
I’m changing my review to 4 stars due to the good service I received in order to solve my issues from the Blink team, thank you.
System can still be improved (points 1 and 3 from the previous review).
————————————————-
1.- Camera system does not give a continue live feed
2.- I was not able to configure the second camera, sometimes it got connected but after arming and disarming the system one of the camera stops working and won’t get recognized, you’ll have to delete it from the system and try to pair it again, this pairing process takes about 2 days of trying constantly.
3.- System is very slow, when you hit the video mode in order to view the camera live it takes a while in order to get connected and send the video
4.- Amazon does not give chat support even thought is an amazon company
5.- Support from the Blink vendor takes forever in order to get a response.
6.- Camera only remains with the led blinking like if pairing is needed but it never gets paired and when it does it only works for a couple of minutes.
Concept and idea is good (completely wireless) but Blink still needs to really work on this in order to get a good product, right now is nothing more than a piece of c.... and their service too.
Very disappointed with the service, the product and the support. I really think it was a waste of money.

We find these get the job done. No frills, for sure.
Things we like:
*Crazy easy setup.
*Outstanding motion detection.
*Fabulous audio - the speakers on these are very good and broadcast your voice clearly and loudly.
*Good quality image of your space.
*Wide angle (at least feels like it).
*Allows us to set up zones to keep our cats from setting it off
*Video saves easily
*Easy to hang
*Easy to add additional cameras
*Good service
Some limitations:
*Picks up animal movement outside at night. Who knew our sidewalk was a freeway for animals of all kinds at night? We have discovered this. There's no way to set up our zones to catch people and not critters given our camera location, unfortunately, so, I've resigned myself to my phone blowing up all night long when I'm out of town. I could move the cameras, probably, and fix it...
*IFFT app, which controls the automatic home/away function, isn't 100% reliable from my experience. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. It's good, just not 100% good.
*When you click "view live" the app takes 10 full seconds to turn on. By then, chances are what you want to see has already happened or you've missed a big part of it.

What I like about the Blink security cameras is, they are easy to set up. The picture quality is pretty good. There are a few times when the camera just shows dark when lights aren't on. If I go out of the app and come back in that usually fixes it. I appreciate that Blink offers the Blink storage so I don't have to pay for cloud service. What I DON'T like about the system is there is no way to visualize several cameras at once. (Like I could with Arlo) It's a pain when I get a movement notification to have to scroll through and enter each individual camera to see if someone is in the house. By the time I get through opening and closing each camera, a person could easily slip in and slip out without me seeing a thing. Sure hope there is a firmware upgrade to fix this glaring issue. Also the movement notifications are delayed. When someone is at my doorbell, I hear the notification ring but by the time I get to the live view, the person is usually gone. Its a good system to peek in on the household but to catch anyone entering in the house and leaving in live view would not be likely.

I had one Blink indoor camera already but it was a wired one rather than wireless and I wanted to couple more to cover more rooms in my house. So I thought I would try the wireless, even though it was very difficult to choose them since Amazon was doing a deal with the wired ones (buy one, get one free). Regardless, the wireless we super easy to set up and sync with the system I had already in place through the Blink app. Just plug in the sync module (the device that comes with the wireless cameras so they can talk to the security ecosystem with Blink) and connect to your wi-fi and the wireless cameras connected no problem. One thing I find pretty annoying though is when you view the live feed from one camera and want to view another camera, the message "Please wait, live view in process" appears and you have to wait a moment before viewing another camera. That's the reason I am bringing down the rating from a 5 star to 4 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Help With Elder Care
Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2022
Configuration: 1 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
I did not want to pay a high monthly monitoring fee to a security company, so I researched which DIY security system would work best for my purposes, and decided on a Blink indoor (and outdoor camera). My elderly father insists that he can be left alone for long periods, but I know that is no longer true. The indoor camera gives me peace-of-mind, because I can monitor him (and also his healthcare aides) when I’m not there. I get movement alerts on my phone, and I can easily pull up live video to see what’s happening. The only issues I’m having so far are finding the right sensitivity level because sometimes the cam does not pick up motions, and there is a bit of a live video lag, which is only just a couple of seconds. I like that the camera is small enough to “hide in plain sight” and no one really seems to notice it, but the blue motion detection light may catch someone’s attention at some point. The outdoor camera works well also, and I plan on adding a mini-cam to the system, sometime in the near future. My recommendation is to definitely research a variety of cameras and price ranges before purchasing, but if elder care is an issue for you, the budget friendly Blink system is a good option.

Great camera and the long battery life means you can add it anywhere. However, you can't incorporate it into your Echo routines. You can ask Alexa to arm or disarm the camera but if you want to be able to say "Alexa, Bye" and have the lights turned off, Guard mode on and your Blink camera set to Armed it can't be done. I use Google Assistant devices and when I leave I get my Google assistant to say "Alexa I'm leaving" to set guard mode on as well as all my Google routines. However the Blink cameras remain disarmed and I have to do that with a verbal command. It's a big failing but if you can live with providing voice commands then these are fantastic devices.

Great product but if you don't buy the hub and thumb drive for it you'll be paying a monthly premium for playback/storage. Also don't put it anywhere with frequent activity or the thing will go off on your phone every 30 seconds. Even with additional settings there is no option for day/night time or a way to turn off the chime frequency. Needs more options for sure. Also that audio is low and not super clear. I also wish there was a chime option where it could make a noise on the camera end when it picks up motion something like a door chime or recorded audio. That all aside it does what it says and the picture could not be more clear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Picture Quality, not happy with the motion detection
Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2022
Configuration: 5 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
I currently have 7 Blink interior cameras installed at two different homes. Initially I installed and used 2 Blink interior cameras at one home for one full year before deciding to order 5 additional interior cameras. Now I have Blink interior cameras installed in 2 homes in different states. My primary reasons for selecting the Blink Video Cameras was the excellent image quality and at the time they were less expensive than other models available on Amazon. I'll also add, now I like that one app allows access to all cameras in both locations.
One issue I found with the interior cameras that I don't like is the motion detection, which in my case doesn't activate the video recording until movement is picked up by the camera roughly 15 feet away. Therefore, I purchased another camera, to install closer to the door. Now I get motion notifications on my phone (another nice feature of the app) when the door is opened, versus someone opening the door, walking in and getting within approx. 15 feet of the original video camera before their motion is detected. Installing the cameras, in my case did take some trial and error, but the mounting bracket uses small screws so the holes left behind after moving the camera aren't noticeable.
I also decided not to join to the "Blink Subscription Plan" after finding a 16G USB thumb drive provided more than enough long term storage space if needed and it's easy enough to download the videos if I want to save them off site. Also now that I have 7 cameras spending $10 a month to save videos just seemed a bit to much especially since I normally just view the video once and delete it. Don't get me wrong the service does offer a couple nice features, again in my opinion, but I don't need the added expense at this time.
Regarding battery life, all I can add is after one full year of usage including a sensitivity setting of 8, 60 second clip length and best quality picture settings the batteries still show as being "OK" for the two oldest cameras.
I am not disappointed in my purchase of two Blink Video Camera systems and will probably add a couple mini Blink models to open areas where access to electricity isn't an issue. I have recommended their purchase to a couple individuals, and each went ahead and purchased the cameras. To date I haven't heard they were disappointed with their purchase of both the Blink Interior and Exterior systems, so they must also like them.

I have 5 of these inside and outside 2 houses. Overall these work great, pretty much do exactly what you'd expect. Easy to set up and use. "Standard" video quality is excellent. My only complaint, and the reason I'm writing this review, is I'd like to see a motion detection setting that results in fewer video clips while I'm home. Maybe 5 minutes break between clips. Not sure exactly how to accomplish it, but it's always going off as we walk about the house. This wastes battery life and produces dozens of useless video clips. I know I could temporarily disable the system, but it's too easy to forget to turn it on/off.

The best thing about this camera is you so not have to plug it in!! I am using it for the garage and it works great. the only negative it does not scan so it is tricky setting it up to focus on one area as the area it can actually focus on is not very large. This is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. It works with my echo show 8, however I have to tell you the picture quality is poor when you ask to see the garage camera, another reason for only 4. i would recommend this camera and I do not regret buying it. I think Amazon could make some improvements. I do like that Alexa notifies you for motion every time, I like this.

I hate that I cannot watch continuously, but it is understandable with battery-operated cameras. When we move into a home that we own, I’m going to have them hard-wired into our electric system like ceiling lights or ceiling fans. I’ve had a problem with my kids unplugging previous cameras to charge their devices.
But for now, they work great! I can easily navigate through the app and switch camera to camera. My only complaint is that the syncing device loses communication with my WiFi network often (3x in about 9 hours). I think I will move it closer to the router to see if this solves the issue.

Wanted some peace of mind knowing our home was safe while we were away. Bought this little camera, yes it's little. But it has a great picture. Night vision is good, not as clear as during the day though. The sound is not so good, it has an electronic squeal that hurts to hear, so I don't use it. Was sad I couldn't hang my camera though, as it did not come with the attachment that doubles as a back removal tool. I had to use a butter knife to open the back and I just sit the camera on a ledge. It works for now I suppose. So far I am very pleased with the device and I've already ordered and am awaiting the mini's to pair with it.

My father has two of these cameras and loves them. Records good quality video for the price. Notifications are good. Overall a good camera, easy to install and use right a way. But there’s a problem. I got it with the intention to setup an Alexa Routine to run whenever motion was detected. Possibly to turn on a hue light or activate a WiFi switch. One thing that I couldn’t find in questions or reviews, and didn’t know till I set it up, was that the routine doesn’t run till after the recording has stopped. I finally found out on a blog that Blink intentionally did this. Not sure why. I wish I would have known this ahead of time. I set it up for a 5 second video which is the lowest setting, but was still just too long to wait to turn the light on. If you’re buying just for the camera, and not to run routines, then I highly recommend.

Overall, the item does pick up motion and is great for recording and just checking in on your place. I was just a little bummed with the app. We got the set of two and you can’t watch both cameras simultaneously and have to click which one you would like to see for it to be live. Also note that you do need to subscribe in order to keep recordings!

But like all app driven things these days a bad update can render them useless. And contacting there support team is not hard but very frustrating as they try and talk around any issues your having or just blame you the customer. they arent worse than any other electronic company, they like most, try to fix what isnt broken in updates. Then take away or hinder functions you liked. Night vision works but wont get any rewards for helping catch a criminal. if you have an outside light your better off with that on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Long time to stream live views in the same network (10-20 seconds)
Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2020
Configuration: 3 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
I'm updating my review due to the good support provided.
The first set I bought had some connectivity issues, but customer service replaced it very quickly and new cameras are working better. The time to start live feeding is taking between 7-9 seconds, which is still way higher than the blink minis (1-2 seconds), but way better than the first defective set which was taking 10-20 seconds to start live feeding.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original Review
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just bought the "new blink indoor wireless cameras" set (3 cams) and a blink mini camera set (2 cams).
All of them (5 cams in total) were added to the same sync module and all have the same configs : video quality is set to the lowest (saver), motion detection and motion recording are disabled, and firmware is updated.
The new blink indoor wireless cams take a long time to display the live view (between 10 and 20 seconds). In addition to the long time to start streaming, there's a large delay between the real movement and it's live streaming being displayed, plus a lot of times it just displays an error saying that live view couldn't be started. All "new indoor wireless cams" are less than 35 feet away from the sync module and modem.
In comparison, the blink mini cams are almost instant to start live streaming (1-2 seconds) and they are not so close to the sync module and modem (probably closer to 50 feet apart).
It's worth saying that my sync module is placed at the side of my modem, and the new wireless cams are way closer to the sync module and modem than the mini cams are.
I use my "all new indoor wireless cams" in the first floor, the same floor as the modem and the sync module, while the mini cams are located in my basement at the other side of the house. I also tested moving the "all new indoor wireless cams" to the same place were my sync module and modem are (at their side), but the time to stream a live view didn't improve much (it still takes been 8-12, which is really bad.
Not sure if this is a constant issue of these new model or if it's my set that is defective.
3.0 out of 5 stars Good first attempt

Easy installation, took less than five minutes. Download the app, record the serial numbers which are on the inside back of the camera, add the sync module to the app, it will update the firmware, then add the camera to the app, again updates the firmware. Take the default names for the cameras, which happen to the be serial numbers. Add the blink skill to alexa, then you can rename the camera in the alexa skill. I named mine street cam.
Plus -
Sends live view to echo show with command alexa show street cam.
Sends live view to your TV if you have a fire stick with alexa voice remote
Easy setup of schedule, a couple clicks and you have an off and on time for motion.
Sync module allows limited local storage of clips – seems to do a backup once a day.
You can add 10 cameras to one sync module – I have indoor, outdoor and a mini all hooked up.
Motion detection via zones - better control of where to look for motion.
Ability to turn off camera led recording and status lights – so no one knows it is on.
Minus –
No current plan for local storage - There isn't currently a way to turn off cloud storage in the app, so this is a work in progress. Company says, local storage includes a backup once a day, live view, and notifications if it catches movement. Without cloud you can view clips on your PC. The box says 'Local storage record and store video clips to the blink sync module 2 in your home and view them in your Blink app from anywhere, no monthly fees required'. Hopefully the company and the box gets in sync with what will really occur. I can't really see the purpose of a notification of movement if I can't see the movement without unplugging the usb drive and booting up my pc.
Batteries seem like a good idea until you have to change them. Make sure your cameras are accessible, indoor cam, no big deal, outdoor cam, a big deal if you have to get on a ladder in the middle of winter to change a battery.
Night vision can't be used if looking out a window due to reflection. So I turn it off, which mean you need a street light to see anything.
Overall -
Not a bad first attempt. I like the build quality of the cameras, but not too keen on the mysterious local storage. There are other cameras which have working local storage in the form of an SD card on the camera in which you can see all the triggered events right in the app with a scrolling timeline, which is great for an indoor cam, instead of having to unplug the USB drive and move it to a PC. You might hold off purchasing until January to see what local storage becomes. But then again, you have until Jan 31 to return the item, if it doesn't meet your expectations..

3.0 out of 5 stars Useless without a sync module.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't used this product because they require you to purchase a sync module in order to use it. Why in this day and age of technology, and coming from a leading tech company, are they making a product that requires a little helper in order to be used. It's perplexing and inconvenient. I ordered a return within minutes of unboxing.
Update: A sync module was sent to me for testing in return for an updated and honest review to my original one star review. The picture is fine, not amazing quality, but good enough. You can only get one minute clips at a time. I would like to be able to get longer clips. The camera has to be within 30' or so straight line distance to the sync, so if you have a large property with several cameras, plan on buying several syncs. The subscription plan isn't a big thing but over the course of time, you're shelling out a lot of money for a very basic service. The battery life will probably last two years if you never trigger the thing, but with normal active use it last a mere fraction of that. This is too much different than other battery cameras on the market, but I would rather they not advertise it as a two year life.
I like this for the compact size and battery operation, but other than that, I find it to be ordinary. I'm indifferent to it at this point.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pros and cons
Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2021
Configuration: 5 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
I purchased 2 kits - 1 indoor, 1 outdoor - for a total of 10 cameras for my business.
* Set up and installation was straightforward. Everything is included for installation, and with the app on a phone, you can do a quick live view to ensure you are setting up in a good location. Within a couple of hours, we had 10 cameras around and inside the building.
* The hardware itself is decent. 2 way talk, decent quality pictures, and the night vision is okay too. The app allows you to adjust sensitivity and to block certain portions from view (example, our flag waving in the breeze was setting it off, so I was able to block just that tiny portion). There is a little delay of about 3 seconds between action and recording, but with good placement, any trespassers should be still caught on camera.
* The app is just okay.
The good: You can view any camera at any time by clicking live view or taking a photo. You can set a schedule of when the motion detector is armed, so it's not recording all the daily activities of a busy workplace (of course, if you want to monitor things all day then this probably isn't the right system).
* Negatives of the app/ system:
- The biggest issue for me is not being able to access the recordings from a PC or Mac. This is a mobile device app only with no website login or PC/Mac app option. This is a big downside for me as it means watching everything on a very small screen. Looking through the help forums, it seems users have been requesting a change to this for a few years and have had no positive solution provided.
- When you get alerts on your phone about motion detection, there's no way to disable individual cameras - you can disable all or enable all. You can't opt out for just individuals. So if one shows the passing cars and people, you can't disable notifications and just get notifications on the others. I guess a separate module would be needed for cameras you want to disable notifications on.
- You can't add other users to your account; for example, another employee or a housesitter. I want other people to be able to view notifications and the videos, but not necessarily change settings. Currently the only option is to give my password to other users which means that can edit everything. Again, it seems users have been asking for this feature to be added for a few years, but it hasn't been done.
- The app links to the community forum for help - but currently they aren't accepting new users. I have sent in a help question several days ago, but heard nothing. So.... who knows if new users can get assistance.
- The app cannot access the flash drive to view videos. If you want to view videos from the app, you have to get the cloud service subscription. I think the $100/yr is a good price for 10 cameras, so I am definitely not complaining about that, but to have to access the flash drive directly on site and not have remote access is VERY limiting and is something potential buyers need to know.
Overall it's a bit disappointing. Yes, it's a budget system, but all in I still have close to $900 in these cameras. The issues I have a really about the software, not the cameras. Mostly I picked this system because of the wirefree 2-year battery promise. Had I realized some of the other issues, I might have skipped this and spent more on a system with a more robust software package.

I have two installed in the main areas of the house like living room and basement, and then three of them outside at the front door, garage, and back yard. I used to own the amazon cloud cam's and they ROCKED, but these replacements are LESS by far!... here's a few examples. You can view the camera in action, but after a few seconds it asks to continue so you have to click that to keep watching. When they are 'armed' and detect motion the camera makes an audible CLICK sound basically notifying the person walking by that they were just recorded which I HATE... Also, The cameras don't last for 2 years on batters... I would say generously 2-3 months TOPS.... I do, however, like how easy it was to set them up and I do like the wireless cables... that's nice for my front door. I really wish though that I could keep my Amazon Cloud Cam's... strangely, all 3 of them died on the same exact day like as if Amazon said DIE CAMERA DIE... and sure enough I can't access them anymore. Overall I give them 3 stars but really wish the designer and engineer were more thoughtful of my needs as a consumer. Hope this helps with your decision.

Blink needs to make it more clear in product description that this camera will not capture motion through windows. Took a long call to tech support to find this out. Video quality okay otherwise, but this and the outdoor version both have long delay in alerting for motion detection. Clip recording activated by motion is also delayed, so you likely get a clip of only half of what occured in camera's field of vision.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for live monitoring.
Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2022
Configuration: 5 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
This is an easy to set up, simple to use, “post event“ system. The short duration of live viewing and the sluggishness of being able to switch between cameras does not make this something you would use for something like security in a store or looking after your children. You would not be able to watch your child in the front yard go around the side yard and enter the backyard on three different cameras very well. By the time you got the side yard camera into “live view “ he would already be in the backyard :-)
These are the blink indoor GEN two cameras that I have. The motion detection is adequate for non-critical monitoring. Adjusting sensitivity to avoid false positives often pushes you below the threshold of triggering on the event you’re trying to capture.
This is not to say that it is not a good system. It works well and the picture quality is quite good. You just need to be sure of how you’re going to use the unit and what your expectations are as this will greatly alter your satisfaction level.

And that’s cool but the problems with it are:
- it’s slightly delayed, they coulda taken my goldfish by now
- it record up to 1 minute of footage and saves jt, and then after that 60 seconds, they won’t detect motion for the lowest option of 10 seconds.. you can easily steal a gold fish in 10 seconds
- worst part tho is the payment plan.. they give you a nice shiny free 30-day trial where you can watch & save any video that it detects/records. BUT ONCE THAT 30 DAYS IS UP KID, you gotta pay for the membership to see recorded footage. That’s chill tho I get it we using your servers I mean the “cloud” sorry STEVEN or whoever decided on that word… anyway you pay for a membership but you have to pay for a separate membership for EACH CAMERA…tuH!

I am the village clerk for my location and we bought these as a recommendation from the mayor who uses at his own home.
The set up was super easy and they work great in the village Hall but unfortunately I can not set the mayor up to get access to the village Hall unless I set his home one and the village one under the same account.
Unfortunately the app does not let you set up two accounts and switch between them. You have to log out of one and into the other one.
I called blink and they confirmed this is not possible at this time.
Overall they work great for the village hall but being able to switch between multiple accounts prevents me from buying this now for my own home because then I would need to switch between accounts all the time. Otherwise I'd go out tomorrow and buy them for my house. Super easy setup and looks great once they are going.

I got these because blink is now an Amazon company, and I was expecting to be able to integrate these cameras with my Ring hub. While, they are Alexa enabled, you are not be able to view live views or recordings in the Alexa app, and you are not able to view them in the Ring app.
A lot of redundancy (hint Amazon: Invent and Simplify) with requiring 3 separate apps for products that Amazon owns - not a “made for humans” strategy.
Picture quality can be improved, as well as motion detection. One has to turn the sensitivity to 2 so that sprinkler systems and the occasional stray cat don’t wake you up at night.
There is no person detection capability yet.
Promising but I hope that future integration of all Amazon owned products in the Alexa / Ring hub is coming - if not this is only worth getting as a stand-alone product.

First off I found the system simple to set up and sync with the usb module. Compared to other systems the picture quality was better than most. Now the reason for only 3 stars, during the trial subscription plan I found "live view" to be erratic and inconsistent to say the least. Approximately 75% of the time the system showed "live view" failed when trying to connect, therefore I saw little benefit to the plan. Unfortunately without the plan "live view" can not be saved to your sync module even with the upgraded usb but will only save alerts and pictures. IMO the company is selling you a partial security system and will only complete the system (live view usb storage) if you pay their monthly ransom/plan fee.

The pros. The quality of the picture is high and the night vision is excellent. They look good and install and set up easy peasy.
The cons. The motion detection is so slow if you quickly walk thru a room the video may not record and even if it does, it will miss you walking through the room.
There is no live view.
If you want to use them as intercoms, you have to initiate it through the app. People without the app can't initiate a conversation. To overcome this, you'd need an Alexa device everywhere a camera was.
If you want to use one of these interior cameras to look through a window onto your driveway or yard, the quality will be poor and the motion detection won't work right. Lights really mess them up outside.
They are also slow even over my extremely fast wireless network.
I kept them a couple of months and sold them on eBay. Maybe these are just poor wireless wifi cameras or maybe the technology isn't great yet. Either way, I'm going to wired.

If you're an Apple person, the set up to get these to turn on and off is ridiculous. Everything in my house recognizes when I come or go without me needing to say anything. These cameras I have to tell to turn on or off (which I often forget to do) and when I remember, it's a 9 hour battle with Alexa to realize I DO actually have something in the house named Blink and they are cameras.

There is a ton of competition in today's home camera systems. That said, Blink still has a long way to evolve. Although great for average use, there are several downsides to the use of the camera. Since it doesn't come with a stand, it isn't poseable out of the box. Place it on a bookshelf and all you get is that exact line of sight. It comes with mounts that you have to screw into a wall as an option. Low light captures are so so; average to below-average performance. Detection is still a bit low (not quick). Set up was pretty easy. The app is good. Alexa integration doesn't support streaming through the Alexa app. The UI needs a little work. If you need a cheap camera system, this is it. Expect good quality and feature-laden and you'll be disappointed. I think I'm returning mine. I wanted something a little better. The old adage applies here...You get what you pay for.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not great as Baby Monitor

Configuration: 2 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
Depending on your intended use, you may not be happy with the fact that video recording is not continuous - something I thought I could live with when initially evaluating alternative options to a conventional baby monitor.
Blink offers recording on a selectable time frame (between 5s - 60s) that is triggered by motion. Secondly, you are able to utilize 'live view' at any point should you feel the need to check on things. What I am not pleased about is the complete lack of ability to record 24/7. Sure you can set it to detect motion and auto record in the predetermined video segments, however, the end result is not the same as a conventional continuous video in which you have the ability to view various sections along a timescale. This for me makes it a bit of a letdown regarding usefulness as an alternate to a conventional baby monitor.
Other than that - it could make for a great camera for say - monitoring movement in/out of a house or as a security cam to capture snippets of activity - like a dog jumping on a couch.

I’m not one to leave reviews on products but this is a very honest review on this camera. Let me preface with I am using this camera in our child’s room. So all there are pros and cons to this camera but there are more cons. Pretty much the only pro, what is the set up was simple and there was no plugs or cords, also the Picture quality well the light is on in the room is pretty clear. The battery they sent you last up to two years so that’s nice. The cons for me outweigh the pros however, the cost is not cheap and I was expecting a little better quality especially since it was about an $80 camera. The camera has motion sensors but once the camera clicks on to start recording it has a loud clicking noise along with a bright light and my son would hear it and sit up in his bed. For this reason I turned the motion sensor off. It also does this when you look in on the camera to check on them while they’re sleeping. If he is already asleep the noise and light doesn’t wake him up up but it is still not ideal. The picture quality in the night time or the “night vision” is horrible I posted a picture so you can see for yourself. Basically this camera for the price is not worth it. I hope this review help save some people money

2.0 out of 5 stars Subscription plan driven features, horrible audio interference.
Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2021

This is a modal window.
No compatible source was found for this media.
I purchased these with the intention not to buy the Blink subscription, and use the Sync hub and a USB drive to save my clips which is an advertised feature of this camera system. The problem is that without a Blink subscription you can't turn on your SECURITY camera and start recording the live feed. Absolute nonsense I say. What a horrible idea hide such a basic, in fact the basic function of a security camera behind a pay wall.
I decided to set them up anyway and see how they performed, 2 outdoor and 2 indoor. The daytime quality is great, nighttime quality is decent for the indoor cameras. The outdoor cameras are awful and nearly unusable at night.
All 4 cameras have horrendous ear splitting feedback during video recording, as you can hear in the attached video. This video is in my closed garage at night which is dead silent.
The cameras also won't respond to my option settings to turn off the LED while recording.
Overall these are just poorly made and they don't perform as a security system should. The paywall features are also a huge turn off. I'll be returning the entire system.

2.0 out of 5 stars The delay between motion detection and video is EVERYTHING
Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2020
Configuration: 3 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
So, I’ll admit, this is my first foray into security cameras. I didn’t need them before, but moved to a place where, well, let’s just say they’d be handy. I got these on a seriously excellent Prime Day sale, and was excited to put them to work.
The problem is simple—even with high speed internet that doesn’t lag for anything else streamed, these have a built in delay between when motion is detected and when the recording starts. Okay, if that’s a second or two, no biggie. But it’s at least ten seconds. And by that time, whatever triggered the motion is well out of range of the cameras, even if that means they’re in your house. Their face would not be picked up, and, well, that kind of makes them more symbolic than useful, right?
The thing is, when it does pick up, the picture is fine. But I didn’t like the viewfinder arc; there was too much of a fisheye thing going on, too much image distortion on the outer parts of the cone. The picture is clear right in the middle close up, but I think it would be clearer a bit further out than it can reach, given the way my front door area is set up, with a big concrete barrier thingy obstructing most useful angles of view. The street view is clear enough, but when I tried entering from my front door to see how it looked, it never even picked me up; the delay between when it could detect me and when it could film me is way too much for my setup, a garden style entry with stairs wrapping around the side.
Now, that’s not to say it wouldn’t work for someone with a house with a big open field of view and a long approach. Then the ten seconds shouldn’t be as much of an issue, assuming the motion detector range is big enough. I still have my concerns there, as if the person is looking down, it’s not helpful.
If you’re wondering why I’m rating an indoor camera, I tried the outdoor one and had this issue, so I thought I could expand my field of view by mounting one of the indoor cameras inside, aimed at the door. But the issue is the same—by the time it records after detecting motion, the subject is too far away. Then I thought I’d use it to keep an eye on the dog, but the dog is long out of frame by the time the recording starts. It’s just not going to work; if you have a wide open layout to your home and to your yard, you may have better luck. But in my place, without long open fields of view, the delay completely negates any potential usefulness of this device.
I’m hoping they do better in the future. It’s not just a problem with the wireless ones, btw—I did the same thing with the Mini and got the same results. Returned them all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bait and switch sort of marketing for cloud storage
Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2021
Configuration: Add-On CameraStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
The cameras work fine. I have had to have someone go to the house and reset a sync module but that has only happened once over five or six months of use. I feel betrayed by the blink/Amazon marketing however, as I purchased my original systemSpecifically after doing much research and that they offered a small amount of cloud space that would always be free, and that you could add new cameras to your system. But then they changed models, have a less elegant design for the hardware portion which now requires tools simply to change a battery, but they have reneged on the free cloud space and so all those cameras do not record unless you give them a catheter into your checking account. So the cameras are fine if you want stationary cameras that only record up to 60 seconds at a time. For example you can’t really use it to sit and watch what’s going on for an extended period of time at any one camera without it crashing. Another thing I notice is that apparently only one camera on your entire account records at any one time even while you are still under theFree cloud storage. So I never have two camera angles of the same event, or a recording occurring at one of my homes if there is also activity being recorded at my other home on the account. Also there is quite a lag accessing the videos. Some that are three months old that I can see the thumbnail for and they are on my original account which should be free cloud space will not load it all and say it’s an error. Overall the cameras do seem to stay online and do allow me to look around at various locations. But If I had wanted to buy perpetual cost cloud space, I could have done that with other brands that sold the original camera package at half the price. And I do have some other brands and they do work just as wellPlus allow me to pan and zoom an area which blink does not.

2.0 out of 5 stars I REALLY wanted to love these cameras!

I’m a die-hard Amazon fan, so I absolutely go for anything owned or partnered with them. I needed an indoor camera for the baby’s room, and decided to rig up my front and back porches too. Picture quality is ok, about expected I suppose. Night imaging is less appealing but does the job enough. For the cameras and the app, I would like the product and probably recommend for the simplicity and compatibility with Alexa. However, the EXTREMELY LOUD and honestly WILDLY OBNOXIOUS high-pitch screeching feedback sound others have complained about when viewing live is seriously not one to underestimate. It is truly UNBEARABLE. Even the screaming cries of my son might be preferable over that noise. It’s less when you leave the house, but completely ruins the experience of watching live. It’s very hard to listen to the actual sound over it. I have to instantly mute it, so then what is the point?? I so badly want to love these cameras, but sadly I will be returning them. The actual sound quality is pretty good, and it picks up voices clearly in the house even not in the same room. After viewing throughout the day, that screeching pulse sound is far too annoying to keep them when I’ve had plenty of other cameras in the past and never once had this issue.
Build Quality: 5/5
Size: 4/5
Aesthetics: 5/5
Picture Quality: 3.5/5 (comparing with expensive camera systems)
Sound Quality: 4/5
Usability: 2/5 (DEAL BREAKER!)
Very disappointed! I wish they could fix that issue and the cameras would be great.

Someone was let inside very late and I opened live view to hear if voices were firmilliar, for peace of mind, but instead the "in-call-audio" came on and and blew away my chance to listen in private to here is no option to change this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Complex setup, Doesn't stay connected

Configuration: 1 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
This product comes with no manual so setup is through the app. Setup is quite complex but I did get it done. With no manual understanding the app is a little irritating. The image is fine but slightly distorted by the wide angle view. There is no zooming function. Pairing to the Sync Module took a bit of work but it did connect. To conserve batteries, there is no Live View until you open that function. It take a bit of time to open so do not expect to catch something quick. Before you get anything other than the last image, you either have to take a snapshot or open live view. Again, a little time delay occurs. Motion detection seems to work but I did not test it thoroughly as when I went to try it the camera had disconnected from the Sync Module. To reconnect, I had to unplug the Module and plug it back in. I have a whole house MESH WiFi system with strong signals but it disconnected twice in one day. I wanted these cameras to work for me (I bought 4 Out Door and 1 Indoor), but I am returning them (Outdoor cameras unopened) as I am not sure I can trust them. Others seem to be happy, but I was not. There was some question with the Cloud requirement and I did not want to find out what other said was true, the Cloud system is required for a useful system.

If you will look around you will see where I spent a lot of time writing about the lousy service I received both from the product and Tech attempts. It had to do with the sync module and the outdoor camera's. Lets just say I'm not a fan of anything having to do with the blink security system. Look around and you will see why. Please read about the pricey lithium batteries, mine lasted 2 weeks instead of 2 years. The fact none of their camera's I bought came with a micro USB wire. Of course you can't use the USB to charge the batteries nor can you use rechargeable batteries. What you can do is order some extremely long micro USB cables and use them to power them up saving the batteries for when the power goes off but by removing the rubber cover over the USB on the camera you void all warranty and if you so choose it stills draws somewhat on the batteries at all times. What's best: go back to what has always worked. Fish a wire down the wall or through the attic and hard wire a camera with maybe a battery backup only for when the power goes off and tie it to a recorder. So easy and it will always work. My two cents. Have a blessed day!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Two wasted hours of troubleshooting; sync unit would never connect to my WiFi network

The concept is great: A wireless camera with long-life batteries that sets up in 5 to 10 minutes. Unfortunately, I could never get it to work on my home network. I'm using a NETGEAR Nighthawk X4S Smart WiFi Router (R7800). No issues with any other devices. The Blink system is supposed to be easy to set up but this thing just would not connect to my network. I tried all of their recommended fixes, starting with the usual resets and progressing to tweaking some settings. After a point, you have to wonder: Is this thing worth the trouble? Do I really need to be resetting my network password to something shorter or simpler for the sake of this device? And given this is the latest model, would they not have worked out the glitches by now? (some research showed that issues of connectivity to the Blink servers was not an uncommon issue, with many users repeatedly getting the message that an incorrect WiFi password was most often to blame...even though they had entered it correctly). In short, I had high hopes for this reasonably priced camera system but clearly it was not ready for market due to technical glitches.

These new set do not notify u when a person entering ur home; they just walked right in! I walked in with the alarm set and nothing no alarm no recording!! Thank god for the older ones, they notified me! These did not even record the intruder, the older one did. These didn’t even send me an alarm, the older ones did. These do record my security lights; when the come on or goes off, they record when a light changes, they don’t let me know till I open the app than I get last week video”s” of light changing????? Very disappointed in the security of these cameras. I use them only to talk to the kids or when some ones at my other house, working on it. I can pop in and speak to them. I do not rely on these to keep my homes safe, only the older cameras I can rely on!!

I have moved the module to different areas, further, closer, on top of… you get the picture. One camera seems to be completely on the fritz. Once the camera does record I can see the area with good quality, night vision is good for the price point. But I wanted the cameras for a live view. Bought the outdoor cameras too however our friends at the USPS decided for me as to whether I would try these or not.
Going to be sending these back.

Product is great when it works. I just barely passed my 30 days so I can’t even return the product. When you get the cameras you get a 30 day subscription trial, which is great but we knew we weren’t going to keep it because we were going to just use a usb drive and the sync module. During the 30 days, video clips backed up just fine onto the USB drive. When the trial ended that’s when I started having issues. The clips would all of a sudden stop backing up onto the usb drive and I would have to reset the sync module for it to start recording and backing up again. It would work for a few days and then all of a sudden stop again. This didn’t feel right so we contacted support. Which is a complete joke! So initially I get an agent who’s actually willing to help and asks me to turn a function on in the app to grant him access to review my module and to see what’s wrong. I reply saying it’s turned on and I get a different agent who is just awful and keeps sending me links to their FAQS, which I have already reviewed and couldn’t resolve my problem which is why I decided to contact support. She proceeds to give me inaccurate information so I tried requesting a different agent for help but she keeps rudely replying. I tried calling for support and it’s such a joke, I can’t reach anyone even when it asks for you to leave a voice message. Oh and also each email reply takes 24 hours for a response. The other issue is after having the cameras for only 30 days, one of the batteries are already dead. But I’m not even going to inquire about that since I can’t even get my main issue resolved. I’m so frustrated. Don’t waste your money on this product when you can’t even get customer support. So disappointed.

As soon as I started to setup these I started to have issues. Could not get cameras to connect to system, once I was finally able to get them to connect and set up I could not get them to give me any sort of live view. It would work every now and then during the 24 hr period that I tried to use them, but 3 of the 4 cameras were constantly losing connection and the motion detection barely worked on those 3 cameras. Most things I read online for troubleshooting said they needed to be closer to my router. 2 cameras are in the same room as router and the other 2 are in the same room as my wifi extender but still only 1 of 4 would work properly. Decided to reach out to Amazon regarding these since Blink is an "Amazon Company' and their only solution was a return and refund. As soon as we told them our issue that was the first thing they said, told us there is no other solution to our problem. So we are returning them and getting a different brand that has MULTIPLE amazing reviews. When they did work they worked pretty good, but had more CONS in a 24 hr period than PROS, I would not recommend these to anyone that is wanting a useable security system.

Blink did not alert me when someone came in my room (it is facing the door and closet) not did it save the footage. Pros:
Camera is pretty easy to set up
Camera works in most lighting
Very easy to check in and see what is up
It is a camera so it is a deterrent

I bought it for security. I want it to alert me when motion is detected and save videos when it detects the motion, but it does not.

This clicking is so loud, it’s obvious what is going on. On my Blink outdoor cameras, they only way I know they are recording is from the small blue light. They don’t make any noise. I wish I had purchased an Outdoor camera instead and just put it inside the house. If you’re looking to secretly record activity inside your house, don’t buy this camera!

I saved my videos to prove it! It also has poor nightly feed. So if someone was to break into your home, you would see a body of someone, you wouldn’t see a clear view. Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware) When the free cloud account trial runs out. These cameras aren't worth a flip. I bought these on the recommendation of a friend who has the previous generation of Blink cameras, Neither of us realised at the time that the previous generation cameras are grandfathered in on free cloud storage. These new generation Blink Outdoor cameras ARE NOT grandfathered in for free cloud storage. This means that when your three month trial ends, your cameras WILL NOT notify you of new events, the thumbnail image will vanish from each clip, all of your clips and images will be written to your USB memory stick on the Sync Module, and retrieval of the clips and images is 20 times slower to view from the Sync Module than it was previously from the cloud. The Blink Marketing team was really crafty in how they changed literally EVERYTHING people loved about the previous generation of Blink cameras and they slipped this little surprise in there and engineered all of it to force you to pay for their subscription service, or have a crappy, half functional camera system if you do not pay to subscribe. I am seriously considering returning these to Amazon for a full refund. And the crazy thing is I just ordered 2 additional cameras as add-on's to my two existing Blink systems right before the trial period expired. Looks like I will be returning ALL of my Blink cameras and looking for an alternative system that will be fully functional without paying some scam of a subscription fee.

Clearly Amazon no longer wants you to have a choice on how you use the product you purchased. Prior to May 2021 USB storage worked great. However after this forced update that they pushed in the form of a free 30 day trial they took away multiple features from local storage non subscription users:
1. No longer do you get a preview of the video when you get a notification popup.
2. When you click on that notification popup instead of playing the video of it now takes you to a live feed of the camera.
3. The preview of the stored videos are gone as well so you can't tell what happened just the camera name, date and time.
4. No longer can you delete multiple clips at a time each has to be deleted individually.
5. Lost the ability to set number of days clips are kept before being deleted on USB local storage.
6. Lost ability to save live camera views.
7. Noticable slowness added to accessing stored videos. Previously opened almost instantaneous.
Please understand that all the above are features that were there previously. Then Blink decided they want to force people to buy a subscription and took away all the above.
Do yourself a favor find another system unless you want to give them subscription money for no real added bonus.

The problem is that the hub doesn’t work unless the cameras are within about 15 feet of them although they advertise 100 feet. But four of the 16 cameras I got wouldn’t even connect. Zomodo was my precious camera system and I wanted wireless - apparently Blink hasn’t a clue about quality control or maybe it is acceptable to have a 30% failure rate in their manufacturing company. The photo quality of those that do work isn’t very impressive and the system hub is a terrible management platform and connectivity takes forever. They way over promised on capabilities as these just don’t deliver in any expectation.

I might have had my expectations too high for this product. It seems like everything about this camera has just been a massive let down.
Set up.
Set up wasn't the worst but it could have been a lot better. The problem I had is that I installed everything before going through the setup process. To set it up you have to scan a qr code on the sync module and camera to get them set up. This meant I had to unmount everything to scan the codes. I get that this is a me problem. The thing I want to point out is that in current year a lot of similar products will have a temporary accesses point that your device can connect to for setup. I don't see why this couldn't have been the same. What makes this worse is that the sync module is supposed to be an access point for the cameras so it CAN be done. I also don't understand the need for a sync module for a single camera setup. The camera connects to the sync module in order to connect to you wifi. My guess is to have the sync module do all of the work so the camera can get the advertised 2 year battery (which is a bit of a scam I will get into later).
Camera Usage.
The biggest problem with the camera is that it works best when you don't use it. If that sounds crazy let me explain. This is not something that you can set up and just have a live feed locally that you can monitor. Everything the camera sees is sent to blink servers then to you. Any live feed you see has a few seconds of delay as a result. You are limited to 30 seconds of viewing at a time due to the bandwidth cost. This also drains the battery of the camera the more you use it. Pretty much the camera is off unless a motion event kicks in or if you go to the app to view the sort of but not really live feed. One big issue I have is you have to do everything via the app. There is no way to look at or manage your cameras on a pc (with the exception of something like bluestacks or other android emulators). Having a site to go to would be great for both convenience and as an accessibility for those with bad eyesight. Night vision is so bad that you are better off not using it. Motion detection seems to just have a mind of its own. I've had instances where I will get a bunch of clips of nothing happening and then times where I know there was motion but nothing was recorded.
Picture quality.
Picture quality is just outright bad. Lights bloom really bad and can cause objects around them to disappear. This is really bad it one of those objects happen to be a thief :/ The images are also really fuzzy and washed out. Whether this is due to a bad camera sensor or blink's compression we'll never know. Night vision has 3 ir settings. It goes from grey, less grey, and white. White drains the most battery. You can turn it off which I have found to be the best option as you can at least make something out. I'm not expecting to have amazing picture quality but they can surely do a lot better.
The amazing 2 year battery life*****
The 2 year battery life that is shoved in your face in every bit of marketing for this thing is an absolute scam. For the camera to get the advertised battery life you have to not use it. The app will warn you every time you do any little thing with the camera that what you are doing will drain your battery faster than the advertised 2 years. Motion detection is on? Well don't expect 2 years. Want to turn the ir up to see better at night? Well don't expect 2 years. Want to check the live feed because you heard a crash? Well don't expect 2 years. If you think I'm being nit picky let me paint a better picture for you. Imagine a cell phone manufacture advertising a new phone where the battery would last one week on a single charge. But when you boot the phone up you get a warning after 10 minutes saying that you should turn your phone off and that more than 10 minutes of use a day will cause it to not last a full week. No one would put up with that.
Conclusion.
I don't see any real world use for this camera. It's too unreliable to be used as a security camera. The lack of any real time monitoring makes it pretty useless. Doesn't seem worth it when it won't be used. Also there is a subscription fee for you to not use your camera. Is it worth paying a monthly fee for the camera to sometimes pick up motion and send back a blurry video where the thing making the motion is obscured by light source slightly off screen?
*Edit*
Dropped it down to one star. After doing some research I found that the blink app on ios violates Apples do not track policy by collecting data and sending it to know tracking companies used for marketing and advertising. On top of the camera being trash the app is actual spyware that should be avoided.
*Edit 8 months later*
Battery died in the camera. This shows that the 2 year guarantee is an absolute lie. It goes back to the original statement I had where it's only 2 years if you don't use it. Now I have some data to sort of back that up. I don't constantly check the stream either. I might check the camera once or twice a week for a quick 5 second glimpse. I don't use night vision or motion detection or any other feature that would cause it to drain faster. I simply check it occasionally when I hear a noise or when doordash shows up. After some quick math for how long I've had it that means 320 seconds of camera time which is a little more than 5 minutes. Maybe that is an underestimate so I'll double it to 640 seconds or 10 minutes and 30ish seconds. I'll even say that I got 11 minutes to give this trash an advantage. They actually think that 11 minutes of usage is good battery life. Worse is they think that 11 minutes is plenty of time for a security camera in a 2 year timeframe. That means 13 seconds of usage a week or about 2 seconds in a day. To stay within the guarantee you are only allowed to use the camera for 2 seconds a day otherwise you are using it too much. Given the fact that this think runs at 15 frames per second, you are allowed a whole 30 frames per day. How generous of them!

If you want this camera as a security camera to record during the night that won’t make noise then don’t waste your money. We got these and the blink mini cameras to use as baby monitors. Every time the IR turns on it makes a loud clicking noise. It’s so dam annoying!! Can’t even tell you how many nights my kids have woken up because of that. Also, there is a 10 second minimum retrigger delay between recordings. That means that if your house is being robbed it will not record for at lest 10 seconds between recordings. So how stupid is that!! I’m beyond annoyed and frustrated with this camera system!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a camera to buy; software sucks
Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2020
Configuration: 1 Camera KitStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
The software for these monitoring cameras is pretty dismal. It's obvious the company manufacturing these partly finished the software development and decided they'd release it before it was done.
The app lets you go to a video view which is supposed to have an audio capability. Installed and working to view the scene, three was incredible feedback and no way to adjust anything. I left the room and still got this feedback, so it was occurring more than likely within the camera and its software. I went further out into an adjacent hallway and closed the door behind me, and went to a bedroom at the end of a short hall , entered it and closed that door also behind me. I was still getting tremendous feedback from this device just installed.
It would be wrong to say you can monitor anything, as the video will only keep showing you the camera scene for a few seconds. Then is shuts off and goes back to the non-video opening window. I went through what is provided as configuration settings and there is no way to change the duration of monitoring. SO, you basically see short snippets and if you're quick enough, you can catch the button to continue. But if you want to monitor a child or a pet, there is no reasonable way to do that.
The video is OK but the app failed to pen the video display several times, so it is not consistent.
The app only works on phones, so you cannot monitor through a laptop.
If they're still in business, maybe the third or fourth generation of the app will be worth downloading. This one is a waste.

I am very disappointed that I added this camera on to my system and it requires a monthly subscription. You need to make it clear that this is not just a add on camera. Now l have to order another camera and my money has been wasted on this one because the subscription was free long enough for enough time to pass so that it’s too late to return the camera. Now I’m STUCK. So disappointed. This is why l miss in person shopping where a skilled person can explain exactly what you’re purchasing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad indoor camera...UPDATE
Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2020
Configuration: Add-On CameraStyle: Blink IndoorVerified Purchase
This indoor camera makes loud screeching noises and is constantly detecting motion every hour, on the hour, which there is no motion, and then I get a notice that the battery will not last with constant motion detection. And we can't return it because obviously we set it while gone. So our daughter had to remove it, rendering it useless & packaging thrown, money wasted. Our other outdoor Blink cameras work well. NOW, I've read others have this same problem with the white indoor.
UPDATE: After looking online to resolve issue of motion picture every hour, choosing a still photo makes it take a picture every hour rather than a picture upon motion. I turned that feature off. The camera suddenly stopped making the screeching noise. Moved it to another location but that didn't help in the beginning. Not sure why it stopped. The indoor camera still has some slight noise while our outdoor/indoor cameras we are very happy with.
Another update: this camera is still having an issue, it takes a video at least 6 times a day with sending me a notice there is motion when there is none seen.

I run a business in Austin, TX. I got these cameras 3 months ago, and they are nothing but trouble. They will work for a day or two, and then you will receive something that either says "live view failed." or "synch module offline". And yes, I'm tech savvy. Yes, I call customer support, weekly. I have the service ticket confirmation numbers if the company does a bogus reply saying they are able to fix it. The times that they DID fix it, it took anywhere from 45-60 minutes of me troubleshooting... unplugging internet router.. resetting synch module... resetting the cameras... And now I had two machines stolen from my office and none of the cameras were working for me to see who stole it. I also pay for their yearly long cloud storage. Needless to say, I'm out about $600 for cameras that are USELESS, and $4,000 in lost/stolen product.
GO BUY WYZE CAMS!!! DO NOT BUY BLINK!!!
USELESS!!!
POINTLESS!!!
THEY DO NOT WORK!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Pretty much bad all the way around

I've had this about 6 months now, so I have had some time to really evaluate it I think.
The camera's motion sensor is really slow to activate recording. I have 3 of these inside my house. It rarely records anything actually happening. I will get a notification of motion, and then a short clip that shows, maybe, my dog pacing. Most of the clips have absolute nothing on them because in the 30+ seconds it must take to kick on, the dog has walked the 25+ feet needing to leave the cameras' frame (which is quite big). I have the same issue with the outdoor cameras, where package magically appear because the camera completely missed the person delivering it.
This assumes of course that the camera is working in the first place, which about 50% of the time it does not. The sync modules you have to use with the are TERRIBLE. They disconnect constantly from the WiFi and then never want to reconnect. I have spent hours trying to reset these things multiple times. Part of this is really bad firmware/software just not working. Part of it is the really stupid design of the hardware where to make the device identifiable to the network you have to hold a paperclip or a toothpick on an undersized button, inside an oversized hold (with the clip slipping off the button), for more than 30 seconds - and then you pray it works, otherwise you do it again, and again, and again, and again, and again.
I own quite a few Smart Home devices, and while nearly all of them can be frustrating at times, but the Blink system is the only one I want to take a sledgehammer to. The Blink system is the only one I feel was a 100% waste of my money.

1.0 out of 5 stars You’ll be forced to get a subscription

I’ve been recommending Blink to folks since I got it in June 2020 because it didn’t require a subscription and now they got me. If you have a Sync Module 1 from about that timeframe, but after the April 2020 exception timeline, then these new cameras will not save the motion clips and your sync module will not work with a USB drive plugged into it to use the local storage option. Unfortunately I threw away the box so I guess I’m stuck with it. Thoroughly unhappy with the trick. Literally all the new camera does is alert me to motion unless I give into the subscription, which I’m sure will be raised over time — not helpful. Used to love Blink. Won’t be recommending it anymore.
Update: one way around the subscription is be SURE to buy the Sync Module 2, then you can store clips to a USB you insert into the module, without a subscription.

Camera did not pick up any motion at all after setting it up according to the directions and now my car has scratches all over it thanks to one of my neighbors. I was really hoping this “security” camera would help me feel more secure. Alas, it did and does nothing. And now I have to pay a $500 deductible to fix my car because Amazon built a crappy product I, like a fool, placed my faith in.
You get what you pay for. Spend a little more money and get a better product.
